Vote "Yes" For...
Forest Preserve District Referendum

I support creating a Forest Preserve District separate from the County Board. I ask that you vote "Yes" for this referendum.

Your county board members currently serve double-duty as County Board members and Forest Preserve District members. Voting "Yes" doesn't mean the separate district will automatically happen, state law will need to be changed to allow this separation.

Vote "Yes" to let your county board members know that you want to help the Forest Preserve District to preserve and protect local flora and fauna. Then we'll get to work to change state law.

I will work to change the law to allow the district be a "legal objector" to county and city zoning changes. When a "legal objector" files a protest against a zoning change, the affected county board or city council needs to pass the change by a super majority of the body, not just a simple majority. This means more board members or city council members need to agree to the zoning change.

Legal objectors put pressure on these bodies to build a wide base of support for any planned zoning changes or annexations.

Sincerely,

Paul Gorski,
County Board Member, District Five

Democratic Candidate for
Winnebago County Board Chairman
