Let's Bring
Commuter Rail to Winnebago County
I support bringing commuter rail to Winnebago County. I'm
tired of the talk, let's move on it. Amtrak would be nice,
but a connection to the north suburban commuter rail system
would be better.
Commuter rail will spur economic growth by creating jobs
for the rebuilding of local rail and road connections, open
up business and housing opportunities around local train
depots, and offer more transportation choices to and from
the county for residents and visitors.
Stores open up around train depots, as do rental and
condominium units. Rail service can help revitalize
neglected urban areas. But we need to lay the ground work
now. A train route has been agreed upon, let's line up the
funding and get to work.
