3.1.A Tracking PrintEd Competencies*
*DO NOT CONTINUE WITH EVALUATION IF ANSWER IS A “NO”
Are PrintED competency checklists maintained throughout the semester/year to assess each PrintED student’s mastery of the current PrintED competencies?
Yes
No

Documentation: A current checklist for every PrintED student that indicates which competencies have been mastered
Location:  Current competency cards are kept in student notebooks along with activities completed for each competency.

Competencies are also tracked with GradeQuick software. Screen shots provided below.

Instructor Comments:
A copy of a competency card for each area is generated for each student at the beginning of their first year. Competencies are referenced on each activity. When a student has completed the activity in a satisfactory manner, the instructor checks off and initials, the competency card. Ratings are not valid if instructor’s initials do not appear next to competency.

“Identify” or knowledge competencies are checked off as soon as the assignment that relates to it is handed back. Students are told to file the assignment in the correct order according to the relevant competency sheet. After it is verified that the assignment is filed in the correct location, competency card is initialed.

“Demonstrate” or Experience competencies, are tracked with experience logs. These logs require the student to record the date, whether it is a live job that they are working on, a description of the job, equipment, and software used, and whether they observed, performed the competency supervised, or performed the competency unsupervised. Once the student can perform the competency unsupervised to my satisfaction, the log is printed and signed off on it. The experience log must be accompanied by proof, i.e. press pull sheets, photographs, video, proofs, finished products, etc. for it to be validated.

GradeQuick: Tracking PrintED competencies happens along with the recording of grades in GradeQuick. There are many powerful reports that can be generated by student, by class, and by completion of competency. This reporting allows the instructor to be constantly aware of what has been completed and what remains.
