Villages along the Mekong_____All Photos ©Peter Whittlesey

It took a while, but by the end of the tour the group appreciated the special qualities of Lao lao, stonewear makers and the always talented weavers

The scenery along the Mekong was alway changing and always mesmerizing

The stoneware jars used for fermenting the sticky rice for lao lao

Ah, the magical distillation of the elixir exemplar, Lao lao

I wish I had a good photo of us navigating much more muddy and slippier landings

Photographers always like patterns and these stoneware jars were captivating

A man and his wife working together in turning a big stoneware pot

This lizard did a great job in posing for the photographers in the group

Another man and his wife turning smaller stoneware jars

Looking down at our trusty boat

At this very small Khmu village this girl openly told us about their lives

This is the home of the Khmu girl whose parents were off planting rice

Lao children are always friendly and rarely afraid of "falang"

Look at the little toy loom she is weaving at-incredible!

I like this shot of the sisters weaving at opposite looms

I think watching weavers is magical, truly magical

I'm the proud owner of this textile and it will always have special meaning...
