This was taken
during the Phrasat Pheung procession. There were thousands of
Lao, all in great spirits bringing offerings to the monks.
Here
is a woman with her offering bowl.
Inside the
walls of the That Luang many of the monks who have traveled from
all parts of Laos rest in the cloisters gazing out on all the
Lao worshipers.
I like the
expression on this young novice monk.
The Phrasat
Pheung was a family affair.
This was taken
during the Tak Bat Ceremony when thousands of monks have placed
their bowls on stands where the Lao faithful place their alms.
Inside the walls of the
That Luang you walk around the That several times and here this
little girl was practicing her dancing to the delight of her
mom.
This was taken on the first
afternoon we visited the That Luang. Here I "bought"
the cage with two sparrows inside so I could let the birds free,
with the idea being that they fly away with all my bad spirits.
The birds have flown away and I sense that my trip will be blessed
with good fortune.
