Tom Artis
Tom is one of my best friends in the world, and
one of the most talented artists I've ever worked with, and when that set
includes John Buscema, Frank Miller, Alan Weiss, Brent Anderson, Tom Sutton and
Steve Ditko, that's saying
something.
And he's had a stroke. I have no way of knowing what the long term effects of this will be: currently, he's at least aware, able to move and speak and so forth, but the extent of it is unknown as of this writing. About the only thing I can think of right now is that you take a look at some of Tom's work, if you're not familiar with it. It's a developing situation, so I'm not making any encomia, and have no support fund for people to contribute to. I will say that there's this assumption that artists are a resource--that all you have to do is find that ex-comic-book artist, or ex-rock'n'roller, or ex-actor, and sweet-talk them, and hey! Back from the Shadows Again! I'm currently one of those shadowy guys, and I can tell you, it ain't that we desire to emulate Garbo or J.D. Salinger. And it's also true that we don't necessarily keep in the fridge all that well. Posted: Wednesday - June 08, 2005 at 03:19 PM |
