Georgia
Here's a scenario:
Superpower, in lust for hegemony in the Middle East, invades a country on the thinnest of pretenses. Superpower gets bogged down in the invaded country, crippling their military, and contributing mightily to their economic troubles, and dividing the nation back home.
Then another power, who has been watching the process closely, makes a broad move, meant to insult and challenge the bogged-down power, knowing that the occupying power cannot adequately respond to the threat and keep up its military occupation.
The political leaders who invaded the country refuse to acknowledge this, react with arrogance and bluster, and push the country to the brink of financial default. Other power continues to taunt.
Superpower falls.
