FileMaker finally made it official today, announcing
FileMaker Pro 6
(after already taking orders and even shipping the software to some customers).
As we previously reported, the new version features integrated XML support, improved security and the ability to grab digital camera images with Mac OS X, plus a few other features, such as Global Find and Replace.
The company also announced a FileMaker professional training program. [Macintouch]
I found the upgrade info. I'll have to pay US$ 30. What a drag. If we'd waited another week to order I'd have the new version now.

Just hours after the release of version 5.2.1 of MS Internet Explorer for MacOS X I had the update on my desktop. Today I found it there and realized that I had not run it yet for a very simple reason, I've been using Mozilla as my primary browser.
With plenty of Ram available, I'm actually running both, but I found myself clicking on the "M" icon much more frequently that the "E" one. I got used to tabbed browsing, to the multiple links bookmarks, to the direct link to google in the address field and to a somehow faster rendering of pages. Very soon I could swicth the default browser settings of my system, and for the second time of my life I will have changed my default browser (I switched from Netscape 4 to Explorer 4 sometime at the end of the last century).
The main reason for my switch will be a bunch of very simple new features, something that has been totally missing from IE for a long time. [Paolo Valdemarin: Paolo's Weblog] Bingo. My experience almost exactly.

Less than 2 weeks after i installed 5.5 on my machine. I went to see what might be offered for someone in my position but the FMP site hasn't been updated yet.
