Saint Peter's Church has now reopened (after being closed for repairs) since 24 May, 2007. The new ossuary containing the bones of some 3000 inhabitants of Barton buried in or near the church between 950 and 1850, and excavated by archaeologists in the period 1975-85 was dedicated at a service of Requiem on 7 March, 2008.
