March 7: Latest! Tina leaves America, sails west! (editorial) Thumbnails

Now it happened!

Tina is finally setting sails. For the second time Filos II with Tina on board sets the course away from the shores of Panama. But this time it is for good. About ten days ago she came back from a one-week trip with skipper Florian and Nathalie around the islands off Panama.

Nathalie is now back in Basel and only Tina and Florian are onboard. The time since then they spent improving the boat and shop food and other things that they will need for up to two months..

The first stop will be Cocos. Then Galapagos, arguably one of the most interesting places on the planet. Ancient animals and biotopes mixed with at least one internet cafe. The latter means that we can be sure to get more pictures and stories as soon as she arrives there.

Check back often. Tina has sent lots of texts and pictures to Expedition Micronesia that will be uploaded any time now. For example a detailed route plan for the next months, see link to March 4. We have also received a set of unique images that survived the robbery in Peru, and has travelled from California to Washington via a scanner in Portugal.

It is now clear that Tina & Co will not sail to Micronesia but instead head for Tahiti. Should Expedition Micronesia get a new name? Submit your opinions and suggestions, the best contribution wins a free trip to visit Tina on the boat in early May (tickets and all other expenses not included).
