Bless me Father, It's Been 3 Months Since My Last Backup
Wednesday night, I fired up Disk
Utility as an easy way to burn a disk image file to disk. Ruth was chatting with
me about this and that, and was unaware that suddenly I was not hearing a word
she was saying (THAT'S never happened
before).
I was transfixed by the words Disk Utility was displaying on the screen.
GAKKKKK! Time for the IT fire drill!
I spent much of Wednesday night backing up my data. Thursday morning, the drive was still working. I bought a new external hard drive, booted the machine with Drive Genius, and cloned the old drive to the new drive.
Sweet. No reinstallation of applications, reloading of data, reentering passwords and serial numbers.
Plus, I now have a fresh backup of all my data. I'll learn my lesson and be good about doing that regularly from now on, right?
