Great North Run
18th September 2005

I am running the Great North Run (a half-marathon - my first!) this year in Newcastle. I hope to raise money for The Anthony Nolan Trust. I would be really appreciative of any sponsorship you can spare - to spur me on and help raise some money for an important, if less well known, cancer-related charity.

What is The Anthony Nolan Trust?
“The Anthony Nolan Trust takes back lives from leukaemia by managing and recruiting new donors to the UK's most successful bone marrow register as well as undertaking vital research leading to improvements in the effectiveness and safety of bone marrow transplants.
The Anthony Nolan Trust is responsible for finding suitable unrelated donors for patients who require bone marrow transplants. Fewer than 30 per cent of patients who need bone marrow transplants are able to find a compatible donor within their own families. The rest rely on the generosity of strangers who have volunteered to donate bone marrow to anyone in need”.

Why?
My niece, Sarah, died of leukaemia aged 7. The Anthony Nolan Trust made an enormous effort to find a suitable donor, but sadly were unsuccessful. I would like to raise at least £500 to help others in this situation.
Any amount of sponsorship will be gratefully received. THANKS!

You can use the secure site: http://www.justgiving.com/pdandrews or the sponsor form in the lab or on the atrium door on the M-floor!

Please be as generous as you can!
