The wisest words in the world

In response to an (erroneous) article in the NYT about IBM's holiday policy

When you retire, your position either gets filled or is eliminated. You’re sent out the door and the company goes on business as usual. So when you think you’re so important to the company’s success, you’re delusional. Not only do you need vacation, but you also need respect, and if you’re not getting both, then work is just an exercise in futility. When I’m gone, it’ll only be my family that remembers me for long, so the more time I get to spend with them, the happier we’ll all be.
