Today, Sunday, February 13, 2000, we are denouncing these
groups of PRIs in the Virginia development, which is approximately
10 kilometers from the Coxulja' crossroads. On Wednesday afternoon
a piece of their machinery arrived, and it remained parked
in the military camp. Then, on the afternoon of Friday, February
11, they began working on widening the road from the Cuxulja'
crossroads to the Virginia development. On Saturday, they
had already reached the entrance to Moise's Gandhi, Ernesto
Che Guevara Autonomous Municipality. As support bases of the
municipality, we told them to stop working and to agree to
dialogue with both groups.
- On Sunday afternoon, at about 3:00 PM, we went to talk to
the authorities, where it was stated that we had an reached
an agreement during the previous meeting that the machinery
would not be allowed to enter, because large and small vehicles
are able to travel quite well. But they began saying that
it would have to happen by force, they clearly stated that
the machinery would have to go through with military forces.
Afterwards, they threatened the civil camp, they took our
photographs, they had a walkie-talkie radio, they also pointed
out those who had participated
-
It was then stated that, if anything happens, they will be
responsible if a problem occurs and also if armed forces become
involved, as it was also noted that they are paramilitary
groups, because no one does what they are doing, with their
radio and camera at a talk
