1998 - 2002

A 4-year pogramme of design for the refurbishment of common spaces in the Grange and Cartmel housing area in the centre of Barrow in Furness, in collaboration with Barrow Borough Council Design Services and Grange and Cartmel Residents and Tenants Association.

The first phase included design for exterior balcony railings, containing silk screen printed, sealed glass panels, one for each flat. The images are of scanned leaves and flowers, selected by the residents.

Phase 2 redeveloped the communal staircases- tiling, wall and ceiling finishes - and introduced a numbering system and wooden hand rail.

Phase 3 looked at the Community Centre and Community Flat - lighting, finishes and colours.

Phase 4 is currently dealing with Landscape design - planting, paving, lighting and orientation.
