Target stitches up McCartney
Fashion designer Stella McCartney has stitched up a deal to design a cut-price range exclusively for Australian women.
In a rare collaboration, the daughter of ex-Beatle Sir Paul has created a limited-edition, 42-piece collection for Target.
Award-winning designer McCartney, 35, is famous for dressing A-list style queens, including close friends Kate Moss and Madonna.
Aussie women were bloody lucky she had agreed to the highly unusual deal with Target, she said.
Her only other such collaboration, a limited-edition range for European chain H&M in November 2005, sparked brawls at cash registers across Britain.
The full range will be unveiled during the 2007 L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival.
It will go on sale in selected
Target stores nationally from March 12.

No American Idol for Paul
The Beatles' digital debut,
along with the reissues and the Cirque du Soleil show, mark a
prominent re-emergence for the Fab Four.
"It's all loosening up with the Beatles this year,"
says Ken Warwick, executive producer of American Idol, which is
planning a 'Beatles Night' for the current season, in which contestants
will sing Beatles songs.
But the Beatles will only go so far.
Despite Idol producers' claims to the contrary, Paul McCartney
will not be a guest judge.
"They called,' says a source close to McCartney, 'and we
declined--as has been the case for the past two years.'"

Handsome is as handsome does
Words of praise, albeit faint, for Heather Mills McCartney, right, last week from the Queen's cousin, Lady Elizabeth Anson, at a fundraising party hosted by Basia and Richard Briggs for the Hyde Park Appeal on Wednesday night.'You look much prettier than in your photographs,' said Anson. 'Thank you,' replied Mills McCartney. 'Someone once said that to me in front of Kate Moss who told me she always gets the opposite reaction.'
Meanwhile, Madonna didn't show up. I'm told she accepted her invitation, but dropped out to avoid being in the same room as HMM.
Perhaps we should admire Madge's loyalty to best mate Stella McCartney.
But at the age of 64 it does not take much, it seems, for the musician to feel the effects of alcohol.
So it was a rather unsteady former Beatle who gingerly wobbled out of a Champagne-fuelled Burns night charity dinner.
Sporting an endearingly lopsided grin - and visibly struggling to keep his eyelids open - the veteran star left London's St Martins Lane Hotel propped up by two minders.
His 37-year-old daughter, Mary, meanwhile looked on wryly - perhaps a little embarrassed - as her famous father weaved his way through the throng of party-goers.
Wearing a smart, navy blue pinstripe suit and tartan tie which, by the end of the evening appeared to be working its way down his chest, the singer was joined by the actor Ewan McGregor and singer, Sharlene Spiteri.
McCartney looked relaxed and at ease throughout the evening, merrily tapping his feet to the strains of the Red Hot Chilli Pipers - the bagpipe-playing band hired as the night's entertainment.
Happily chatting to guests, the Liverpudlian showed no sign of the stress his current divorce from Heather Mills must be causing him.
Of course, his decision to
leave the celebrations before the night's main event - the charity
auction - could be the result of claims that Miss Mills, 38, stands
to profit up to £200 million ($391 million) of her estranged
husband's reported £825 million ($1.6 billion)personal fortune.

Heather Mills is in talks to star in the US version of hit British TV show 'Footballers' Wives'.
The former model, who is also
reportedly considering an appearance on 'Desperate Housewives',
is being linked to a US version of the hit British show about
the glamorous lives of football players' wives.
Bosses at US TV network ABC devised the concept following David
Beckham's decision to sign for the Los Angeles Galaxy, which has
resulted in a surge of interest in the sport.
A source told Britain's Daily Express newspaper: "It's all
gone crazy over Beckham. It still isn't as appreciated here as
it is in the UK but people are starting to take notice.
"We're keen to do something similar to 'Footballers' Wives'
- soccer meets 'Dynasty'. Heather has
done a lot of US TV and she's someone we would love for the show.
There was talk of her appearing in 'Desperate Housewives' but
if they don't want to know, then we do." Meanwhile, it was
recently reported that Heather, 39, and her estranged husband
Sir Paul McCartney had reached an out of court divorce settlement
worth £32 million ($62 million).
However, Heather's legal firm Mishcon de Reya issued a statement
denying Paul, 64, had made an offer.
A spokeswoman said: "No offer has been made whatsoever at
any time."

NPR is moving its bureau in
New York. It's moved just a few blocks, but the new space on 42nd
Street will be larger, neater and have a gorgeous view of Bryant
Park. And this week emails of recollection of the old bureau have
been flying back and forth.
When I first worked there in the 1980s, the bureau seemed to reflect the character of New York at the time: disordered, gritty, congested, and charming. It had the feel of a permanent sitcom.
Paul McCartney
came to watch his wife Linda Eastman be interviewed. Everyone was unruffled
and poised until the door closed, then Minoli and another engineer
began to bounce up and down like teeny bopping circus bears to
squeal: "Paul McCartney! Paul McCartney!" Then they
remembered he was just on the other side of the door.
Stella McCartney is known for many things. Being the daughter of Linda and Paul McCartney is a given, but Stella managed to make a name for herself. Six years ago she launched her label, which now boast leather-free synthetic suede shoes and slippers in addition to cruelty-free stylish handbags. Now, she's adding organic skin-care products to the mix.
CARE by Stella McCartney, is
available as of this month on Sephora.com.
"As a company, we don't claim to be this militant environmental
brand, but we like to think we are a responsible brand. We use
recycled paper, and wind power we buy from Ecotricity. You can put yourself in a
position where people will say, 'She's not doing this or that.'
I'm not by any means perfect. I drive a car. I go on airplanes.
But my philosophy's always been 'Something 's better than nothing.'"
Unfazed by the much different approach of her competition, McCartney sees her venture as the first luxury organic-skin-care range. Using 100 percent organic extracts such as green teas, rooibos and red sorrel in her Radiance & Youth Elixir, McCartney says, "it's also not particularly geared toward skin types. It's more to suit your need."
Apparently, the need is great indeed. Vegans know the benefits of consuming organic produce. Yet, it is affirming and refreshingly comforting to know studies show organically souced ingredients and compounds used in CARE have higher concentrations of antioxidants, essential ammino acids, essential fatty acids, vitaminc C and trace elements compared to what is found in conventionally farmed crops.
McCartney knows what she wants in her products and she certainly knows what is forbidden. She insisted keeping out things routinely used by more mainstream brands. Parabens, formaldehyde, phthalates, synthetic fragrances and petrochemicals which, although there is little to prove the amounts employed in today's beauty products is dangerous; they likely have cumulative effects linked to asthma, depression, memory loss, cancers and damage to reproductive organs.
"Our tagline is 'To give your skin everything it needs-and nothing it doesn't.' Silicone, for instance-which is in pretty much everything-is there as a texture enhancer, to make things silky, lovely, and smooth. But I don't see why you need it. It doesn't make you young, doesn't plump your skin. Doesn't do anything for you, so we take it out."
That's a philosophy anyone can agree with. It seems that when it comes to skin-care, Stella has it covered.

27, 2007 -- The MirrorPeace-loving Macca's come out fighting... to Rocky's favourite tune, Eye Of The Tiger.
The Beatle bopped to a bagpipes rendition of the anthem at a Burns Night bash.
Hoping for a quick KO in his divorce battle over his £825 million (1.6 billion) fortune with Heather Mills, 64-year-old Sir Paul threw caution to the wind and leapt on a chair for the Survivor tune.
We asked him how he was feeling about the big showdown and he told us: "I'm upbeat about it. Thanks for the support. I'm having a fab night and don't want to go home but I have an early start."
Macca may have been planning to follow the great Rocky's morning run example, but by midnight his daughter Mary still had trouble getting him to leave the London party, which was also attended by Ewan McGregor.
Mary said: "It's lovely to see him having a good time. We really appreciate all the support from the fans."
OK, now go get 'em, Tiger,

claims on Heather
Mills' website dated 26/01/2007.
The reason for my comments are as follows: I am Margaret Ambler and I cannot and will not sit by and let you (Fiona) get away with your claims that Heather never made up her childhood because I was there.
Fiona, you claim that Heather never made up her childhood, but you and Heather both know that she was NEVER kidnapped! Chapter 3 of "A Single Step" is utter fiction and you know it, and so do I. Fiona if you are going to tell the truth, tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

MACCA CELEBRATES BURNS NIGHT WITH DAUGHTER MARY

He might be a Liverpudlian born and bred but Paul McCartney
was embracing his love of the Highlands on Thursday night. The
Mull Of Kintyre singer was joined by his photographer daughter
Mary for a traditional Burns Night knees-up
in London's St Martin's Lane hotel.
They were among a host of stars gathering to celebrate Scotland's most famous bard. Perthshire actor Ewan McGregor, who delighted onlookers by donning his kilt, and Glasgow-born Texas singer Sharleen Spiteri co-hosted the charity event, where entertainment was provided by bagpipe troupe the Red Hot Chilli Pipers.
Sharleen - patriotic in red tartan - was having to keep socialising with other guests, including Lady Helen Taylor and Ronan Keating, down to a minimum, however. She has been told by doctors to rest her voice after developing nodules on her vocal chords - a problem also experienced by Julie Andrews and Joss Stone.
While former Beatle Paul got into the spirit of things with his fellow celebrity revellers, his estranged wife Heather Mills has been moving in royal circles. The mum-of-one put in a glamorous appearance at a London charity reception where she appeared to be getting on famously with Prince Michael of Kent.
Rod Stewart, Sir Paul McCartney and his designer daughter Stella are among the famous names who will sample our other national drink at the London bash.
Texas singer Sharleen Spiteri and Hollywood star Danny Glover have also been invited.
McGregor, who played Obi Wan Kenobi in StarWars, has hosted the annual event several times.
The money raised goes to kids cancer charity CLIC Sargent and the Children's Hospice Association Scotland (Chas), of which Crieff-born McGregor, 35, is patron.
Guests at the Covent Garden supper will receive a specially made bottle engraved with a portrait of Burns.
Music will be provided by the
Red Hot Chilli Pipers - who are planning to put a modern twist
on the annual celebration of Scotland's bard.

Team Heather Mills Says "Enough Is Enough"
She always dreamed she'd find that perfect lover, but he turned out to be like every other geriatric billionaire ex-Beatle with lawyers that rival most nations' justice departments. But she ain't mad at him; Heather Mills McCartney's mad at folks like Victoria Newton over at The Sun, it appears. Just mosey on over to your favorite website, HeatherMills.org, and instead of that beautiful, black-and-white film strip featuring Ms. Mills' various glamour shots, one is confronted with a red screen and a throbbing flash animation reading - nay...SCREAMING - "Enough is ENOUGH!" Below it, there's a link that says "Continue" (if you haven't already launched into epileptic convulsions), and on the next page, you are confronted again--this time with an angry letter from Heather's sister, Fiona Mills. First of all, don't they know white text on a BLAZING red background is flippin' hard to read? I guess Fiona hopes that their color choice will annoy us so that we'll be convinced to join Team Mills. Bad call. She rages, and I quote:
"After eight months of reading disgusting, untrue and hurtful stories about my sister Heather I feel enough is enough and I would like to try and set the record straight. It's impossible to answer every single lie that has been written about her, there are just too many, but over the next few weeks I will try to answer some of them.
The main reason that I am responding is that I am deeply concerned for the safety of my sister and her daughter. They are receiving death threats, not because she is getting a divorce, but because some of the British tabloids decided from day one that they wish to destroy her, create hatred towards her and profit out of doing so. The vicious agenda of these tabloids has resulted in death threats to my family and I want to try to do something. Heather and Beatrice no longer receive the protection that would be afforded to any other member of the McCartney family facing such threats. It is extremely stressful to be informed by the police of a serious risk to your life and then to be followed by strange cars and people that may or may not be paparazzi..." READ LETTER
There's more to the letter, and you can read it, if you have the stomach for it, over at Mills' website. (Reports have surfaced that the letter had previously included jabs at Sir Paul McCartney about the lack of bodyguards for Heather and Beatrice - but the remarks were quickly re-written at the request of Heather's lawyers.) Fiona is correct that the British tabloids have profited immensely from Heather's downfall. In particular, Victoria Newton over at The Sun has taken enormous pleasure in ripping the former Mrs. McCartney a new one. But Heather has provided them with more than enough ammunition for it all. One of the many falsehoods in this letter is that Heather has been silent throughout. I guess we all dreamt that Extra interview a few months back and the outrageous quote in which Heather said that she'd rather lose another limb than endure the public ridicule she's facing. Live by the sword, die by the sword - anyone who uses the media to forward their interest can find that the same media will come back and bite them on the heinie.
Fiona ends the note with a lovely rhyming couplet: "I love her and I love my niece, give them a bit of peace..." How twee.
Oh, but there's more...she goes on to list news stories and refute them one-by-one. It appears that Heather never attacked a harmless mother at Starbucks; it was a journalist who she kicked out the door.
Heather, how we've missed you
atop Anglophenia! Don't stay away so long next time, OK? Too bad
she's been replaced by Jade Goody as the most hated British woman.

Rock&Roll Fun
Are there any more at home like you, Heather...? oh, there are...
Confusing times if you visit Heather Mills'
official website, where they've got a little bit of Flash-empowered
ranting going on - "Enough Is Enough" bounces across
the screen (nothing says "I'm angry" like a spot of
low-effort animation). Then, confusingly, the word "continue"
appears, meaning you've got the words "Enough is enough -
continue" in front of you, like Mark and Lard's "stop...
carry on".
Then you get an open letter
signed ("written") by Fiona Mills,
the sister of the woman who married the man who wrote Pipes Of
Peace. Since cooler heads will doubtless prevail and the thing
will disappear, this is what she has to say in full: CLICK
Well, it's certainly impassioned. And there's something savvy
about appealing to the public over the heads of the paparazzi
- although having drawn the tabloid's ire for trying to pass herself
off as Diana Windsor, it's probably not that wise to try and repackage
yourself as being in the same boat as Kate Middleton.
And while Heather may or may not be a gold-digger (although, as we've mentioned before, she could quite easily prove that by saying "I don't want any of your money, Paul") and she may not be a liar - but is anyone going to believe that the woman who kept popping up on Larry King Live isn't a self-publicist? She's a model, after all - it's their job to self--publicise.
So, has this call for the tabloids to stop spinning the story worked?
Erm... no, unsurprisingly. In the Sun this morning, this bit of Fiona's letter:
Heather and Beatrice no longer receive the protection that would be afforded to any other member of the McCartney family facing such threats.
... has turned into:
The sister of Heather Mills McCartney has accused Sir Paul of risking the safety of daughter Beatrice - claiming he is refusing to pay for a security guard.

FURY AT HEATHER SIS RANT
Heather Mills' sister may
have jeopardised divorce talks with Paul McCartney
in an astonishing rant.
Fiona Mills' outburst on Heather's website stunned lawyers for both sides as the couple were ordered to stay silent.
Heather's legal team Mishcon de Reya and its publicity arm The PR Office were said to be "furious". A source said: "This could upset the applecart."
Fiona claimed the couple's daughter Beatrice, three, has had death threats as well as her mother.
But they "no longer receive the protection that would be afforded any other member of the family".
She denied Heather is a gold-digger and branded claims she would give up custody of Beatrice for millions "absolutely disgusting".

How Heather's website went soft on Sir Paul
Heather Mills sanctioned an astonishing internet attack on her estranged husband Sir Paul McCartney.
But within hours, the onslaught was softened on the advice of her lawyers.
On her official website, Miss Mills allowed her sister Fiona to accuse Sir Paul of putting both Heather and their daughter Beatrice's lives at risk by refusing to pay for bodyguards to counter death threats she had received.
But the words were later redrafted for fear they might damage Miss Mills's divorce settlement.
Legal advisers on both sides have counselled the couple against becoming embroiled in a public slanging match.
However, on Heathermills.org, Fiona rails against Sir Paul and the media. She states: 'The vicious agenda of these tabloids has resulted in death threats to my family and as her husband is not concerned enough to help I will at least try to do something.
'Heather and Beatrice no longer receive the protection that would be afforded to any other member of the McCartney family facing such threats.'
For a few hours, the posting was removed completely from the website. When it returned, it no longer contained the allegation that Sir Paul was 'not concerned enough to help'.
The changes occurred between 10pm on Monday and 6am yesterday.
A friend of Heather said they were made once she realised what the legal implications of making a direct attack on Sir Paul might be.
A divorce judge could take a dim view of either party speaking openly about the divorce.
The posting comes just days before the couple will face each other in court for the first time to battle it out over whether Sir Paul, 64, should pay for Heather's security. Fiona, 35, is 38-year-old Heather's only sister and most loyal ally. In recent months she has acted as her personal assistant.
The website posting also denies reports about cash settlements she has been offered by Sir Paul.
Spokesmen for Miss Mills and
Sir Paul declined to comment last night.

Heather Mills McCartney beats out Ann Coulter for the title of "World's Biggest Bitch"
It's official. Heather Mills McCartney has been voted the "World's Biggest Bitch" by readers of the infamous blog Pop Realster. Mills McCartney ousted last year's winner Barbara Bush and trounced other heavy weight contenders J-Lo, Naomi Campbell, Michell Malkin, Hillary Rodham-Clinton, Madonna, Martha Stewart and odds on favorite, Ann Coulter, who came in second this year.
Mills McCartney, who is embroiled in a nasty divorce with Paul, is widely perceived to be a gold-digging, self-serving harpy, although there are some who defend her, saying that she is "misunderstood". One reader called her an example of a "strong, independent woman" who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go after it." others who fall into her camp, contend that such powerhouses females are often maligned for possessing qualities which are admired in men but criticized in women. However, Detractors of Mills McCartney outvoted her admirers 100 to one.
Carly Bottendale, who writes Pop Realster's wildly successful column "The Ho In The Know", explained why Mills McCartney is the target of such widespread animosity.
"It's really simple. At one time, Paul McCartney was probably the most sought after bachelor in the world. He had everything. He was gorgeous, brilliant, incredibly wealthy and of course, he was a Beatle. Think about it, he could have had any woman in the world but he fell in love with Linda. Okay, she was a nice girl but nothing special, kind of like any friendly, average looking chick we all knew in high school. But he was crazy about her. Once they got married, they were never apart; he couldn't stand to leave her side right up until the end. This guy is the poster boy for devoted husband. When he married Heather, a lot of people, including his own kids warned him but when Paul is in love he is IN LOVE. So it all comes down to this: How big a bitch do you have to be to get Paul McCartney to walk out on you? "
Enough said.

Fiona Mills
defends her sister Heather and disses Sir Paul
After eight months of reading
disgusting, untrue and hurtful stories about my sister Heather I feel enough is enough and I would like to try
and set the record straight. It's impossible to answer every single
lie that has been written about her, there are just too many,
but over the next few weeks I will try to answer some of them.
The main reason that I am responding is that I am deeply concerned for the safety of my sister and her daughter. They are receiving death threats, not because she is getting a divorce, but because some of the British tabloids decided from day one that they wish to destroy her, create hatred towards her and profit out of doing so. The vicious agenda of these tabloids has resulted in death threats to my family and as her husband is not concerned enough to help I will at least try to do something. Heather and Beatrice no longer receive the protection that would be afforded to any other member of the McCartney family facing such threats. It is extremely stressful to be informed by the police of a serious risk to your life and then to be followed by strange cars and people that may or may not be paparazzi.
We have been accused of creating publicity stunts and leaking information to get publicity. This is not true and is a ridiculous accusation considering all the publicity is negative. It is not hard to work out where the inaccurate information is coming from. It's impossible to leave the house and do anything without being followed by paparazzi who want a picture of anything Heather does. They have followed her practically everyday for 253 days making it impossible for her to have privacy in her life with her daughter. We have even resorted to having to continuously film this harassment since Heather was assaulted by a member of the paparazzi in early July, in order to have proof in court. None of this would be happening if the newspapers weren't prepared to pay for the photographs. It's pointless trying to set the record straight with the newspapers, they are not interested, it's against their agenda, so this seems to be the only forum for the truth. It's impossible to sue newspapers for every lie they print, we already have three libel cases going on at the moment and there are more to follow.
I don't believe the public are massively interested in reading about this divorce, which is the excuse the tabloids give for their harassment. The public have no choice over what is printed in the newspapers everyday. The tabloids paint a picture that the public hate my sister and yet it is the tabloids themselves that spin the lies in order to influence public opinion.
Heather does not deserve the hatred that the tabloid press have thrown at her. She is just one of many women getting a divorce. She has committed no crime and has been silent throughout but what good has it done? When journalists have an agenda against you and people you don't even know are paid to lie as 'sources' there is very little you can do. Heather's not a gold digger, liar or self-publicist for people to tear apart - she's a human being and a mother who has feelings and cares what her daughter will read in the future and it is deeply hurtful to hear and read all the spiteful things that are said about her.
I guess people can believe what they want, but just give her a break, please, it's not fair that one person should be the subject of so much abuse... I love her and I love my niece, give them a bit of peace...

January 22, 2007
Millions of Britons woke up Sunday to a headline in London's News of the World tabloid declaring that the McCartneys had agreed to a divorce settlement which will keep some details from ever being made public.
A statement from Mishcon de Reya Solicitors on behalf of Mills read: "With regard to the article in yesterday's News of the World, we would like to state that there has been no offer made whatsoever at any time to our client and therefore no settlement has been agreed."
The former Beatle has said from the beginning that privacy was among his greatest wishes, and he would have had some of that, according to the paper, which said Heather will walk off with a cash and property settlement worth £32,000,000.
That's $63,176,960 about three percent of the pop star's fortune, reportedly estimated to total about $1.6 billion.
Mills presently has at least one lawsuit pending against The News of the World - a widely read tabloid which has a reputation for getting scoops, but not always getting the story right.
McCartney's camp, according to The News of the World, said that the amount the anti-landmines activist and former model will receive is more than the total amount he earned during their four-year marriage.
The newspaper owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation, the same parent corporation as the New York Post, and known for its celebrity gossip - has made its loyalties clear. In coverage of allegations dragging the couple through the muck since their split, the paper dubbed Mills "Mucca" - a takeoff on "Macca," the nickname McCartney has long used for himself.
McCartney has many times appealed to the public and the media to help him in his goal to keep the divorce as dignified as possible a hope that has for the most part been unrealized.
"There are certain things in life that are personal, and I think a relationship with a partner is intensely personal, and I prefer to keep it that way," McCartney told the BBC in an interview last November. "When you are going through difficulties, I think the thing to do for the sake of all the people concerned is to keep a certain dignity and remember that it is a private affair."
There was no comment on the report of the settlement on McCartney's website - which has remained silent on the subject since October, when his lawyer posted a statement saying McCartney would defend himself "vigorously" against allegations that he was violent with Mills but was making no public comment for the sake of his family.
The divorce lawyers in the long and acrimonious negotiation are heavy-hitters in their own right.
Sir Paul has been represented by another favorite on her Majesty's list: Fiona Shackleton, who handled Prince Charles' divorce from Princess Diana and is the solicitor to call today when Princes William and Harry need some top drawer legal advice.
Heather's advocate is Anthony Julius, who has been active in fighting anti-Semitism and is equally well-known for having represented Diana in the 1996 royal breakup. He was one of the founders of the Diana, Princess of Wales, Memorial Fund and still serves as one of its leaders.
Monday's statement of denial was released to media through a public relations company on behalf of the Michcon office.
Mills, who was married once before, has been admired for her resilience in overcoming a difficult childhood and reacting to losing a leg by becoming a campaigner for amputees and against landmines.
Mills met McCartney on the charity circuit, where he has been active on behalf of vegetarian and animal rights issues - causes he became interested in as result of the beliefs of his wife, Linda, who died in 1998.
Heather, 39, believes she is entitled to a professional bodyguard after receiving death threats from gangsters but Macca believes he shouldn't have to pay.
Lawyers are now ready to settle the issue in court while moves for a final divorce deal continue.
Heather was overheard confiding in pals during a recent skitrip to Slovenia.
A fellow skier said: "They are due to go to court next month. She is furious with his attitude, and very upset."
Sir Paul, 64, has already agreed
to pay £2,000 ($3,950) a-week rent for a new London home
for Heather and their three-year-old daughter Beatrice.

Heather cabin to go in deal to save bird-watching hut
Sir Paul McCartney has struck
a deal with planners to demolish estranged wife Heather's
country hideaway - so he can save his own bird-watching hut.
The former Beatle has been getting over his bitter marriage split by spending hours alone viewing rare species on his sprawling estate.
Macca's bird-watching hut and Heather's £1million ($1.9 million) log cabin were built three years ago in the grounds of his home in Peasmarsh, East Sussex.
But council planners threatened to bulldoze both buildings, because they were built without permission. Sir Paul begged for a compromise, saying flattening Heather's former hideaway would "more than compensate" for keeping the wildlife pavilion.
He promised to use the platform for recreational purposes only. The cabin was used by Macca and Heather for romantic nights.
He let the ex-model live there after they separated last May, so they could both have regular access to two-year-old daughter Beatrice. But as their bitter divorce battle raged on and Heather, 39, rarely visited the McCartney estate, he decided to get rid of it.
Macca, 64, is now an expert at spotting the many rare species - including long-eared owls, grey wagtails, red kites and bearded tits - who nest on his 933 acres.
Bird-fancier Macca - who sang The Girl is Mine with Michael Jackson on a hit duet in 1982 - was said to be overjoyed after the hide was saved from demolition by council planing bosses.
A source said: "Paul is a real naturelover and finds sitting down by the lake, watching all the rare birds and creatures, really relaxing.
"He is going through a tough time at the moment so it is a great place to go to get away from things.
"Paul was a bird lover as a kid and has now become a real expert at spotting all kinds of species."
Heather, meanwhile, is surrounding herself with close friends to get through the divorce.
Last week, she and 40 loyal pals, including at least two former lovers, celebrated her 39th birthday at a remote Slovenian hotel.
The source said: "Heather
and Sir Paul are relaxing in their own way before the biggest
divorce showdown in history."

Heather Mills will pocket
around £1,000 ($1,973) an hour for her four-year marriage
to Sir Paul
McCartney in a hush-hush divorce
deal- that's about the same rate she charged as a hooker.
Mucca, 39, has finally agreed a £32million ($63 million) cash and property out-of-court settlement.
Last June we revealed how she was paid around £1,000 an hour for wild orgies with rich Arabs when she worked as a call girl in the early 1990s.

Heather will bag the 64-year-old Beatle's £4 million ($7.8 million) luxury Georgian house in St John's Wood, north-west London, AND his £6 million ($11.8 million) home in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles.
Furious
Paul has agreed because he is desperate to keep details of the split private.
His daughters Stella, 35, and Mary, 37, are furious. They wanted their stepmum discredited in court.
But the top-secret deal means Sir Paul will never be able to publicly denounce claims in Mucca's divorce papers that he stabbed her with a broken wine glass and shoved her into a bath while she was pregnant.
A source close to Macca's girls said: "Stella and Mary are baying for blood.
"Their poor dad has been dragged through the mire by this woman, and all they wanted was to see his name cleared on the record, in public.
"Stella used to joke about looking forward to the day when Heather didn't even have one leg to stand on in court. But now that day will never come."
The megabucks settlement has been drawn up by the same briefs who thrashed out Charles and Diana's divorce-Anthony Julius from Mischon de Reya and Fiona Shackleton, a partner at Payne Hicks Beach.
Lavish
But this deal is worth almost DOUBLE the £17 million ($33.5 million) Di was awarded in 1996.
A well-placed source said: "This way Paul gets to have the divorce in private, which is all he ever wanted, and Heather avoids risking her case falling apart. She's delighted."
She will earn at least a million pounds a year in interest from the cash sum alone.
And although she is getting less than three per cent of Macca's £825 million ($1.6 billion) fortune, he claims it is much more than he earned during their marriage.
He even claims to have lost £2 million ($3.9 million) in one year of their marriage because of the cost of his lavish Back In The World tour.
A spokesman for McCartney declined
to comment on the terms of the settlement last night.

Sir Paul can keep estate pavilion
Sir Paul McCartney is to be
allowed to retain a wildlife viewing pavilion that he originally
built without planning permission on his East Sussex estate.
The ex-Beatle was told a year ago to remove the pavilion and a wooden lodge, but he has been asking Rother District Council to let him keep the buildings.
Planners have now granted a new application which means the pavilion can stay if the lodge is demolished.
Sir Paul's 933-acre country estate is situated at Woodlands Farm, Peasmarsh.
Legal agreement
The 64-year-old originally built the lodge to give his family extra privacy, and the lakeside pavilion for recreational use on the banks of a conservation pond.
But the council refused retrospective planning permission for both structures in January last year.
There followed 12 months of appeals and revised planning applications, which included Sir Paul offering to demolish a three-bedroom detached house and two agricultural barns in return for being allowed to keep both the lodge and pavilion.
But he signed a legal agreement in December, pledging to pull down the lodge by June.
It paved the way for Rother
Council's planning committee to approve the retention of the pavilion
at a meeting on Thursday.

Sir Paul McCartney to release 'Heather Mills heartbreak' album
Sir Paul McCartney's new album
will focus on his split from Heather Mills.
The Beatles legend, who is currently involved in a bitter divorce battle with the former model, is set to reveal his heartbreak on a new record to be released next year.
A source told Britain's Daily Express newspaper: "Paul never stops writing songs and they often reflect what's going on in his life at the time. It's now understood that tracks on his next album will include some direct references to his recent difficulties.
"He's also said to have written a song to his three-year-old daughter Beatrice, explaining to her how things turned out the way they did."
Paul's 2005 album 'Chaos and Creation In The Backyard' is also said to have contained references to his troubled marriage to Heather.
'Friends To Go' includes lyrics about Paul feeling alone, while in 'Riding To Vanity Fair' Paul sings "the feelings have gone. you don't fool anyone".
Paul once said he finds music is "great therapy", adding: "Inevitably moods, feelings and emotions find their way into your music, whether you like it or not. You can't help it."
The 64-year-old dedicated his
2006 classical album 'Ecce Cor Meum' to his first wife Linda who died of breast cancer in 1998.

Idol Chatter - The possible Beatles-themed week.
For the first time, Idol has permission to use parts of the famed
songbook of The
Beatles, executive producer
Ken Warwick says. "We've got the permission" from Sony,
which owns the publishing rights, Warwick says. Certain songs
are still off limits, but "they said, 'Tell us what songs
you want and we will do our best.' "
A couple of Beatles songs have been performed on Idol, he says, but the show has never had access to enough for a themed week.
There are "enough songs certainly to get a decent show out of it, and maybe it will be the first show of the top 12" finalists, says Warwick.
Ideally, the week's mentor would be Paul McCartney or Beatles producer George Martin, Warwick says, but no such plans are in place yet.
PAUL PAYS £2,000 A WEEK FOR HEATHER'S NEW HOME
Heather Mills has won the first round of her increasingly bitter divorce battle with Sir Paul McCartney after he agreed to pay the £2,000 ($3,900) a week rent on her new home.
Macca, 64, is to foot the bill for his estranged wife's pad near Regent's Park in London where she will live with their daughter Bea, three.
The move comes after friends of 39-year-old Heather told how she has cut all ties with the former Beatle over his alleged refusal to reinstate her security after she got deaths threats from gangsters.
One pal said her rent agreement was "negotiated in court" and added: "Heather says Macca has to pay for their accommodation. She thinks the divorce will be settled within the year."
Heather will no doubt be pleased with the order, but it won't ease her fury over the security issue.
She told friends on her ski trip to Slovenia this week: "I never want to see him again. I can't even bring myself to speak to him."
One said: "She is absolutely furious and for her, it's the final straw.
"She said she never, ever wants anything to do with him again.
"When it comes to handing Bea over, the nanny or other members of staff take care of that." Heather is said to have become increasingly friendly with ex-fiancé Marcus Stapleton, who was one of 40 friends she invited on the ski trip to celebrate her birthday on Friday.
She was engaged to the Hong-Kong-based executive in 1995.
The friend added: "They seemed very chummy. It was a surprise to see him there but they are obviously friends, even though their relationship didn't work out."
Macca still has not made Heather a divorce offer and the rent agreement is only until a formal settlement is reached.
Lawyer Mark Stephens, of Finers Stephens Innocent, said: "In divorces with high net worth individuals arrangements are made to provide separate accommodation.
"More often than not the
husband provides it for the wife."

HEATHER &
JOY OF EX
Old flame Milos surprise guest at birthday party
Heather Mills had an emotional reunion with a hunky ex-lover who made a surprise appearance at her birthday party.
Heather and ski instructor Milos Pogacar hugged and kissed before chatting intimately, sparking rumours of a reunion.
The pair, who enjoyed a wild, whirlwind romance 15 years ago, are now getting to know each other again.
One friend said: "Heather's always had a special place in her heart for Milos. We're thrilled for her. There's every possibility this could be the start of something new.
"Milos is kind and caring - he's not rich or famous. Heather started mentioning Milos again shortly after her separation from Paul."
On Friday night handsome Milos was a special guest at Heather's 39th birthday celebrations at a remote mountainside hotel in Slovenia.
Astonished Heather greeted the ski instructor with open arms.
Later that evening he handed her a big gold and silver bag containing a special gift, as some 40 close friends and family looked on.
Friends say the surprise was a great success and the pair looked very happy together.
A pal said: "When they dated they were really in love. They look good together and they still have feelings for each other."
Milos was secretly invited to the bash by Heather's best friend Renata Matijasevic, after he begged to be put back in touch with her. Renata invited him along to the last night of Heather's weeklong ski holiday in the resort near Lake Bled. Milos, who is in his late-30s, and Heather met on the slopes as ski instructors after she fled to Slovenia to start a new life following the split from her first husband, dishwasher salesman Alfie Karmal.
Handsome Milos, who has light brown curly hair and a fit, muscular physique, still lives in Slovenia. A pal said: "Heather needs someone who also likes fitness and healthy eating. Milos is her perfect match and I think she realises that."
But Milos may have competition after another ex Marcus Stapleton also joined the trip - and was seen sharing intimate moments with her.
The tennis tournament director, who has recently split from his wife, was one of 40 friends Heather had invited along on the all-expenses paid holiday to a three-star hotel in the Slovenian ski resort of Bohinjsko.
And strapping 6ft Marcus, who Heather dated in 1995 and wanted to marry, was very attentive to Heather throughout the trip.
A pal said: "Marcus obviously still holds a torch for Heather and has been a shoulder to cry on."
Heather's holiday, meanwhile, was a health-conscious week of skiing, vegan food and board games. The mother-of-one even took vegan food to give to the hotel chef to cook her guests healthy meals. But some of her pals were spotted in nearby pubs and cafes tucking into steaks and burgers.
After the vegan-themed birthday bash in the hotel, Heather and her guests danced the night away at the local Amour nightclub. Her fitness instructor Ben Amigoni, 22, made sure there were no unwanted guests by acting as bouncer on the door.
At 3am Heather left alone at
the backdoor. She was spotted yesterday morning looking pale and
hungover.

The Enquirer's Lame Attempt At Smearing McCartney
Ex-Beatle Paul McCartney
has received almost universal public support in his on-going divorce
battle with Heather
Mills. Clearly, McCartney
has built up a lot of goodwill over the years. Enough that, when
Mills comes out with accusations of abuse, and claims she has tapes to back up said accusations,
most people are quick to defend Paul, and to hurl terrible insults
at Mills, and make incredibly tasteless, though hilarious, jokes
about her one-leggedness.
There are a few who have taken Mills' side in the affair however. Who knows what their reasons are. Maybe they have something personal against McCartney, or have consciously decided to swim against the tide, or maybe they just have a thing for stumps. Or, perhaps, they've just concluded that the McCartney-is-a-jerk angle is better for business.
Such would seem the case with The National Enquirer, which lately has taken a decidedly anti-Paul tack. In fact, one could almost accuse the Enquirer of attempting to smear McCartney. Witness this piece on their website, which hypes certain "bombshell tapes" they've acquired. And what is on these earth-shattering recordings? Evidence of Paul beating Heather? Testimony as to his general cruelty? Or proof that Paul has been a bit of an obnoxious jerk at various times in his life, especially when he was young?
The tapes, "exclusively" obtained by the Enquirer (perhaps because no one else thought they were worth anything), feature Paul's stepmother Angie and stepsister Ruth talking about certain incidents where Paul demonstrated himself to be not the most thoughtful or classy fellow in the world. In fact, the behavior they recount can only be characterized as boorish. In the first offered clip, Angie talks about a time when her husband, Paul's father, was suffering from crippling arthritis, and Paul, in a moment of apparent meanness, threw open a window and caused a cold gale to blow on the poor old man. When Angie told Paul to close the window, Paul replied by saying the old man wasn't really sick, and Angie and the doctors were trying to make a cripple of him. In the second clip, the stepsister Ruth talks about how she became large-breasted at a young age, and Paul made lewd remarks to her once when she was wrapped in a towel after having a bath. And in the third Ruth tells about a conversation she had with Paul when she was 20 where Paul suggested she overcome her financial troubles by becoming a prostitute.
Maybe there are some out there who will buy the Enquirer's angle, and see these recordings as stark evidence of McCartney's low character. Surely, his stepmother and stepsister see him as tyrannical, and maybe he was. But does any of this represent proof that he beat Heather, or beat Linda as Heather also claimed? And does it do anything to ameliorate Heather's gold-digger image? It all seems a bit desperate to me. An attempt at blowing certain instances of callous and perhaps even rotten behavior up into something larger. All right, so McCartney was a little dictatorial. But there's still no proof of real abuse, just a couple of bitter old women looking for pity, and a crass magazine trying to make stunning revelations out of material that barely qualifies as interesting.
Girls Aloud have slammed Heather Mills over her divorce settlement demands.
Bandmates Cheryl Tweedy and Kimberley Walsh are adamant the former model has no right to demand a share of the money her estranged husband Sir Paul McCartney made before they were married.
Cheryl fumed to Britain's OK! magazine: "As long as she's got a nice two-bedroom apartment and a cosy sofa she should be fine. Yeah, so she has a lifestyle to maintain, but she really should have worked at her marriage more and she might have maintained it. All I know is he has been a legend for years and earned a hell of a lot of money. And she shouldn't be entitled to the stuff he made before they met."
Kimberley added: "Just because you're married to someone it doesn't mean you're entitled to have the money they have worked their entire lives to make. Unless you are really bitter.
"I just don't know why you'd go and do that. I'd have a lot more respect for myself by just walking away. It's not like she's going to be living on the streets.
"Do you really want to
take something that doesn't really belong to you? She's not done
herself any favours by making her problems public."

No more women for Sir Macca
Troubled Sir
Paul McCartney has said he
is "through with women" in the wake of his divorce fight.
He poured out his heart to pals while
on holiday with daughter Beatrice
The former Beatle, 64, told them at his five-star resort in Jamaica: "I'm through with women. It's been horrible.
"I'm just glad to be able to get away with Beatrice.
"She is the most important person in my life - she's all I have."
Sir Paul jetted to the Caribbean island after New Year following a new divorce demand of £50 million ($97 million) by estranged wife Heather, 39.
The star took Beatrice, three, and two other family members with him.
He has rented a five-bedroom villa at a resort he used to visit with beloved first wife Linda, who died of cancer in 1998.
Macca told those close to him: "It's lovely to be back. It's like being home again. It reminds me how happy we were together."
But Sir Paul tried to put his emotions in the background as he went sailing on his own.
In spite of strong winds, he expertly manoeuvred the small craft. The star then pulled the boat up on the beach and cleaned it down before heading back to Beatrice.
Macca recently looked tired and drawn following the strain of his divorce battle.
But he was spotted smiling and chatting to holidaymakers in Jamaica.
An onlooker said: "He
looks great. Just like his old self."

Mills-McCartney 'top PR disaster'
The Heather
Mills-Paul McCartney row has
been voted the biggest public relations disaster of 2006, according
to a new survey of PR highlights and lowlights.
The survey was conducted by Rainier PR, a leading business-to-business and business-to-consumer technology public relations agency.
A total of 2,948 adults were sampled, on line, between November 23 and 27. The figures are from YouGov plc. Respondents were asked to select the issues which they considered had created the best and worst PR "buzz" during the year.
On the negative side, the Mills-McCartney affair was well in the lead, with 53% of the total questioned regarding this issue as having created the worst PR "buzz" of 2006, with men (51%) and women (55%) fairly equally divided.
Runner-up in this category was Madonna's adoption of David Banda, although this issue tailed some way behind Mills-McCartney, with 20%of those questioned regarding it as a PR failure.
The nature-loving former Beatle, 64, has lodged a second application for retrospective consent for the timber structure despite being told no a year ago.
He has since offered to bulldoze a £1m log cabin he also built without permission on his 933-acre estate at Woodlands Farm in Brede Lane.
Sir Paul claims it will "more than compensate" for being allowed to keep the pavilion in dense woodland next to a conservation pond in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Planners at Rother District Council have urged councillors to allow Sir Paul to keep the pavilion when they meet at Bexhill Town Hall next Thursday to make their decision.
Head of Planning Frank Rallings said: "In my view the design of the pavilion building and its location is acceptable within the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty." Sir Paul has stressed that the 72 square metre pavilion (236 square feet), set on stone piers with an external observation deck, would be used for "recreational" purposes and not as a home.
He tried to save the cabin, used as a hideaway by estranged wife Heather Mills, 38, but later withdrew the application in the face of mounting opposition. Sir Paul has been given a deadline of June 30 to remove the 205 square metre (672 square feet) cabin or face enforcement action.
Council officers have demanded to know the date it was built, believed to be in October 2003, so that it cannot become lawful by having been in situ for four years. Woodlands Farm has been the family home of Sir Paul, his late wife Linda, and their children for more than 25 years.

Pop legend Sir Paul McCartney takes a break from his divorce battle - in late
wife Linda's favourite Caribbean resort.
Macca, 64, is on holiday with daughter Beatrice
in Jamaica.
They are staying in a villa at a five-star resort with pals. Sir Paul - estranged from second wife Heather - recently told how Linda, who died in 1998, loved the island's "freedom".
He was spotted playing in the
sea with Bea, three, before stretching in the sun aboard a floating
platform.

Brian Wilson on Paul McCartney
McCartney was somebody I admired very much, but a competitor at the same time. It was a thrill to have him around. When The Beach Boys first heard Rubber Soul, we were so flipped out that we cut Pet Sounds. Then Lennon and McCartney were so flipped out with Pet Sounds that they went right ahead and made Sgt Pepper. So it was like a friendly rivalry.
With Rubber Soul, I loved the idea of it being a collection of folk songs, a collection of songs that all seemed to belong together. That's what blew my mind the most. I loved "Girl" [singing] and "Michelle" and "Norwegian Wood". I loved them all. They were fantastic songs and there was so much harmony and melody on there. There's absolutely no way that Pet Sounds would have happened without Rubber Soul. I knew I needed to create an album everybody would like.
Paul's best quality is his singing voice. And of course, his songwriting ability runs very high. The songs are so diversified. He has such a versatile way of writing. A lot of songs are entirely different from each other. He's probably the most prolific songwriter in the history of the business. There were similarities between us in that we were both bassists and our birthdays were two days apart. He was June 18 and I was June 20 [both 1942]. I'd call us friend-mates rather than soulmates. He has such a great sense of humor. I feel sorry for him having those problems with his wife right now, but he'll get through it. A lot of people are on his side. He's such a great guy.
The first time I ever heard The Beatles was when "I Want to Hold Your Hand" came on the radio. I flipped I really loved it. But I didn't meet Paul until 1967, in a recording studio in LA. He came by with Derek Taylor. Derek had been the Beatles' agent, and because of the Beatles connection, we decided he'd be appropriate for us as well. Paul was dressed in a white suit with red, patent-leather shoes. He looked really spiffy. Then he sat down at the piano and played "She's Leaving Home" for me and my wife. We both just cried, it was beautiful.
Then of course, we recorded him eating a carrot and some celery for my song "Vegetables". We got along pretty good. We didn't really stay in touch over the years, but when we met in 2004, he had come to watch the SMILE concert in England. I was told that he was crying. And I knew he'd said that "God Only Knows" is the best song ever written. I'd never really considered writing a song with Paul, but it's something I might still pursue, though not right away. His concerts are just fantastic. I've been to three or four of them and every time I go, I like him more. When we get together, we talk about each other, what we're into and what kind of music we're making.
My favorite Paul McCartney
moment? Let It Be. I could not believe how great that album sounded.
It was just fantastic, with Phil Spector producing. "The
Long and Winding Road" [sings the chorus] is just so beautiful."
"We Love
Paul 10 of Macca's magic moments"
1. Royal Variety Performance, November 1963. Paul introduces "Till there was you" as a song from "The Music Man". "And it's also been recorded by our favorite American group Sophie Tucker."
2. New York press conference, February 1964. Reporter: "in Detroit, there's people handing out car stickers saying Stamp Out the Beatles." Paul: "Yeah, well, we're bring out a Stamp Out Detroit campaign."
3. "Aaaowwwww!" Of all the McCartney screams that precede a Harrison guitar solo in 1963-64, "Can't Buy Me Love" is the shrillest, the loudest, the best.
4. Waking up with the melody for "Yesterday" in his head. Paul plays it to friends, asking them to identify the song. He can't believe he's written it.
5. Hearing John's lyrics for "This Bird Has Flown" (later "Norwegian Wood"), Paul suggests a small but crucial change to the last verse. The house should burn down.
6. The guitar solo in "Taxman". Usually credited to George, the solo proves that Paul was not only a phenomenal bassist but an outstanding lead guitarist.
7. Paul talks EMI chairman Sir Joseph Lockwood into approving Sgt Pepper's celebrity collage sleeve, after lawyers have warned of multiple lawsuits. "Don't worry" Paul says. "Everyone'll love it."
8. A night in 1968, Paul opens an upstairs window of his St John's Wood home, perches on the windowsill and sings the newly written "Blackbird" to a group of female fans camped outside.
9. Paul walks barefoot across Abbey Road for the LP cover. The number-plate of a nearby VW Beetle reads "LMW281F", sparking rumors that he is dead (Linda McCartney Weeps).
10. Twickenham, 1969.Yoko howls an avant-garde improvisation while Paul, eager to please, stoically wrenches feedback cacophonies from his amp.
Today is D-Day - when most couples start
the road to divorce.
January 8 was yesterday cited by divorce lawyers as their busiest day of the year.
And top reasons for splitting are affairs, followed by boredom, abuse and lack of sex.
More than 100 leading marriage lawyers and 2,000 wed, divorced or separated people were quizzed for a poll.
It revealed thousands of couples will today start moves to split - often with Christmas the final nail in the coffin.
The biggest tipping point for most was an affair (27 per cent).
Falling out of love was second (22 per cent) followed by men abusing women (16 per cent).
After lack of sex, it was money rows, alcohol or drug abuse, debt and careers or hobbies taking priority.
Leading divorce lawyer James Stewart said: "Extra time together such as over Christmas can force problems already in the relationship to come to a head.
"We're expecting this to be our busiest day and our busiest week."
The insight over divorces - such as the battle between Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills - also revealed ten per cent of married couples have NO sex at all.
And one in five marriages is on shaky ground, added the pollsters for new website insidedivorce.com.
They also revealed the seven-year itch IS a problem. British couples are wed an average seven years and three months before realising it is not working.
But once couples pass their
tenth wedding anniversary, it is likely the marriage will survive.

KANE PROVES HE'S MORE THAN ABLE
There's no business like showbusiness for Kane Murray.
The talented young thespian has secured a much sought-after place at a prestigious stage school - and says it is all thanks to his local amateur theatre group.
Kane (19) joined Class Act in September 2005 when the group was based at St Christopher's Centre, in Grimsby's Weelsby Road.
Since then his crowd-pleasing performances have led him to the doors of the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA).
LIPA, founded by former Beatle Paul McCartney and Mark Featherstone-Witty, has been a breeding ground for fresh new talent since Queen Elizabeth opened its doors in 1996.
Former students include singer Sandi Thom, who rose to stardom through a series of webcasts, and whose single I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker was a massive hit last summer.
And now, as Kane embarks on a BA (Hons) degree in Performing Arts, he has his sights set high.
He said: "I just can't wait to get there, I'm so excited.
"Paul McCartney is definitely one of my idols and there's hopefully going to be masterclasses from some very famous people.
"I just couldn't believe it when I was accepted as there are only 30 places on the acting course."
And as the bright lights of the big city beckon for young Kane, he has his sights set firmly on the future.
"The West End musicals are my dream. I would like to try all sorts of acting, including film and television.
"As long as I'm acting, I'm happy."
The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts offers training in acting, dance, music, sound technology, arts management, technical theatre and theatre design.
The school offers diplomas, undergraduate degrees and post-graduate qualifications and lists Lynda Bellingham, Terence Stamp, Arlene Philips and playwright Willy Russell among its patrons.
Meet
Boil, a dog doodled by a six-year-old boy, who has been repainted,
reimagined and redesigned by some of the world's most famous artists
and celebrities. Lena Corner finds out what is so special about
this line-drawn mutt and, overleaf, you can even become
part of the exhibition yourself
When six-year old Jensen Parsons knocked out a drawing of a dog on a scrap of notepaper, he had no idea the impact such a throwaway doodle could have. The dog was christened Boil, and Jensen's stepfather transferred it to a small canvas and dutifully stuck it up on his wall at work. Boil may have an outsized head and spindly legs, but it wasn't long before he came to the attention of a few sharp-eyed celebrities.
Damien Hirst was the first to spot Boil. He requested a copy of his own to work on which he duly covered in his famous spots. Next, Lord Richard Rogers got hold of one and produced a collaborative work in primary colours with his granddaughters. Then it was Sir Paul McCartney's turn. He added his personal touch to Boil with the help of an old teabag and and a ballpoint.
It helps that Jensen's stepfather is Simon Freedman, a 40-year-old osteopath and founder of the Covent Garden clinic Alive + Well, which treats vast numbers of London's A-list. With the picture on the wall of Freedman's practice, his starry clientèle became Boil's captive audience. When Freedman found himself dishing out canvases of Boil left, right and centre, he realised the potential. "After the first few I thought I should turn it into a charity event," he says. "This whole thing was a complete accident. It's turned into a monster, albeit a very cuddly monster."
Freedman soon found himself in possession of around 70 highly collectable canvases some, the Damien Hirst and the Gary Hume for example, estimated to be worth up to £30,000. He decided to offer them for auction in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital and called up a friend at Sotheby's contemporary art department who heard the calibre of Freedman's names and immediately agreed to do the auction for him.
Unlike many low-rent celebrity/charity tie-ins, the care that has gone into each piece is impressive. Nicole Farhi actually hand-embroidered Boil underneath her canvas. Sculptor Antony Gormley used ink on his canvas, while Rachel Whiteread used correction fluid. Brilliantly, Alan Bennett turned his picture of Boil into a self-portrait. "I've been really impressed by how generous people were," says Freedman. "Paul McCartney, for example, found time to do his right in the middle of the big divorce shitfest. It was really sweet of him."
Other contributors include Pelé, who kept it simple, Rankin who turned Boil into reality and Ricky Gervais who turned him into something more vicious. The Chapman brothers' produced two canvases, one of which makes pointed reference to an artist that Freedman knows but who declined to be involved in the project. "I'm regretting letting that slip now," he says, smiling. Sam Taylor Wood's offering is on its way, as are "we're 80 per cent sure" ones from Kylie Minogue and Madonna.
"I think it gives you an idea of what's going on in these people's heads," says Freedman. "I'd love to get an art therapist to have a look at the them and psychoanalyse them all."
By the date of the auction, Freedman expects to have around 130, some by non-celebs, including his other four children. You can even contribute yourself (see right). Freedman is hoping to raise something like £300,000 for Great Ormond Street. As for Jensen, he thinks he's hit the big time. "He thinks he's it," says Freedman. "He just goes around telling people he's famous."
The exhibition runs from 26 January-7 February at The Hospital Gallery, 24 Endell Street, London WC2, tel: 020 7170 9100. The auction will take place on 31 January. For more information or to bid, go to www.dogproject.co.uk or www.aliveandwell.co.uk
My New Years Eve....
It was all about being invited
to Mike Campbell's [guitarist for Tom Petty] house by him for
Mike and Marci's NY party..
So, there I was hanging with some of the Heatbreakers and it's
11:50 pm. I had heard that TP & HB's played a set there last
year... but so far, no TP...
THEN, he walks in... Tom Petty...
and I notice the whole band is there now... so, we all toast in
the new year and I thought maybe they were just gonna hang and
party... so cool!!
Then I see Mike motion the bass player and drummer to the living
room, where they have a set up for a band. So I walk into the
next room... standing there talking to a woman and Tom walks by
me.... stops, turns and says, "Hi I'm Tom... I just wanted
to introduce myself to you and tell I you I'm a big fan.. I've
been watching your work and your a great player."
... I'm freakin! So, I say "Man, I've been listening to you
for a long time ... I got into this thing where I put on your
new CD every morning... If it were made of vinyl, I would have
worn that sucker out!!" He let out a big laugh... then he
walks straight over, puts on a guitar and they played for 1 1/2
hrs straight! SO ****'in cool!! They played all the songs that
influenced them, not the hits... All Mike's son's friends crowded
and screamed, danced and fell over as I watched from the big winding
stairwell in his giant living room. He was telling the kids to
back up or he couldn't keep playin'... just like they did at Woodsock!
It was heaven.
Then after, Mike asked me back
into his studio to show me his new guitars... as we're talking,
TP comes in and says it all again!! Wow.. what a great way to
bring in the NY!
I'm still all glowing from it.
You know, it's really surprising
to me whenever a star tells me he's been watching me and is a
fan of my playing/writing.
I guess I don't go around thinking about my exposure to the world,
being in this cool band with Paul McCartney.
I never consider that all the other great artists look to him
just as I did, and that they all notice me too.. it feels really
good to be considered a peer... It's such a cool side benefit
to the music... just amazing.. I'll never forget it.
All the best to you in 2007
May all of your dreams come true
NOTE: George Harrison is said to have praised
Tom Petty when they first met, after admiring Petty's music for
a long time.

I'M HEATHER INC.
She plans own vegan and perfume biz - like Linda and Stella
Heather Mills is launching an online health and beauty business... called "I Do Care".
Heather, 38, plans to reinvent herself as a vegan health expert by dishing out advice on the lifestyle website. The site, being launched later this year, will include fitness tips, vegan recipes and advice for leading a "green" lifestyle.
The move will upset estranged husband Sir Paul McCartney - whose first wife Linda was a vegan (WEBMASTER'S NOTE: Linda was not a vegan) campaigner and launched a vegetarian meal range.
In a further twist, Heather is secretly planning to sell her own luxury beauty products on the back of the website - to rival his daughter Stella's perfume range.
Stella and Heather have been enemies ever since her father's marriage to the model four years ago. Heather is now locked in a bitter divorce battle with Sir Paul, who has told her that although he'll do all he can for daughter Beatrice, he'll not give her a penny.
A source said: "Heather's new company is going to cause fireworks in the McCartney house. She has been very cunning. On the surface, I Do Care will give her a new - caring - image. It will have information on health, beauty, green issues and veganism. But once it is established, she will launch a beauty range to rival Stella's. She will argue there was so much demand for it, she had no choice. But in reality, the pair have always disliked each other and it's her chance to get back at her.
"It's going to put a further wedge between her and the McCartneys. They are also going to be upset that she is trying to promote herself as the new Linda McCartney."
Heather secretly set up I Do Care Ltd in May - the same month she and Sir Paul announced their divorce - with her sister Fiona as secretary. A source said: "They are hoping it's going to win her lots of new fans and be very profitable."
Last week, the Sunday Mirror revealed how Heather has told lawyers she wants Sir Paul's houses in London, Sussex, Los Angeles and New York for her and Beatrice, three.
She also asked for an annual
allowance, arguing her highprofile marriage wrecked her career.
The source said: "Whatever happens in the divorce, Heather
is pinning all her hopes on I Do Care. She wants to show the McCartneys
she can do it... and do it better."

Brown wants to team with McCartney
British rocker Ian Brown has
asked Paul
McCartney to play bass guitar
on his new album.
The former Stone Roses frontman promises his new solo effort will be "something really beautiful, with violins, dead sharp beats, socially conscious lyrics," - and he wants the former Beatle to help him top the charts.
Brown says: "I'm trying to get Paul McCartney. I spoke to his assistant. I was like: 'Me name's Ian Brown and I'm a singer,' and she was like: 'Yeah, I've heard of you.'
"I'm keeping my fingers
crossed. I don't mind waiting for him. I'd put it back for him.
I just think in the last 40 years, no-one's touched McCartney
on the bass. It's a bit of a pipe dream, but if you don't ask,
you don't get, so I'm going for it."

Heather complains
One of the most photographed women of the moment has complained
to police after being followed by photographers in Rye. Heather Mills-McCartney spoke to Police Community Support
Officers in Rye on Friday, claiming she was being followed.
Mrs Mills-McCartney, currently divorcing musician husband Paul
McCartney, was outside the Hilden Health Club, in New Winchelsea
Road, when she made the complaint.
Mrs Mills-McCartney's personal trainer Ben Amigoni, who works
at the club, was not with her when she spoke to police.
The two photographers, one from Bromley and one from Sandgate,
had their press cards checked by police but no arrests were made.

Heather Mills has a new fan - her lawyer's wife.
The estranged wife of Sir Paul McCartney, who has hired top divorce lawyer Anthony Julius for the impending court battle, won over Anthony's wife Dina with her beauty.
Dina revealed on her website: "We went to dinner with Heather and she is much, much prettier than she looks in the photos."
However, not everyone was so enthralled with the former model - in fact her presence went unnoticed in the restaurant where they dined.
Dina said: "The restaurant was not even half full. But there were no paparazzi and nobody recognised Heather."
Meanwhile, Heather, 38, could
be questioned by police after allegations she kicked a woman who
tried to take a photograph of her in a coffee shop.

Mucca hit me with false leg
A mum told last night how Heather Mills booted her in the bottom with her false
leg in a coffee shop bust-up.
She said Sir Paul McCartney's estranged wife grabbed her by the throat and shoved her out the door.
Emma Levy, just 5ft and six stone, had tried to snap her with her mobile phone in a Starbucks. She said Heather - dubbed Lady Mucca because of her porn model past - "flipped out".
Emma, 38, said: "Heather came in looking glamorous in a cowboy hat, brown polo neck jumper, skintight jeans and boots.
"She sat down with a man
and they were drinking coffee. I took out my mobile and tried
to take her picture.
"She jumped up, grabbed me by the throat and pushed me towards
the door. She lashed out with her left leg, kicking me in the
bum. I have a big bruise."
Heather, 38, who lost her leg when she was hit by a police motorcycle, was with a lawyer at the branch in Belsize Park, North West London. She split from ex-Beatle Macca, 64, in May. They have a daughter Beatrice, three.
Passer-by Hayleigh Sands, 16, said: "Heather's face was contorted with anger. She started rifling through the woman's bag to find her mobile phone. She broke down and started crying, 'I do not need this right now. I am getting death threats, going through a divorce and bringing up a baby'.
"Heather gave the woman her phone back and it all ended."
Emma, 38, said she had reported the incident to police, who told her they would quiz Heather within days.
A Starbucks worker said: "Heather acted only after the woman had been so rude when she was having a coffee."
A spokesman for Heather said:
"She was taking private notes from a lawyer when a woman
tried to take her picture.

MILLS ACCUSED OF COFFEE SHOP ASSAULT
Sir Paul McCartney's estranged wife Heather Mills
will be quizzed by police after allegedly kicking a woman in a
London coffee shop when she spotted her taking photos. Amputee
Mills, who is preparing for a bitter divorce battle from the former
Beatle, was furious when Emma Levy took out her mobile phone in
the Starbucks cafe and tried to snap her and a male companion.
Levy says, "She jumped up, grabbed me by the throat and pushed
me towards the door. She lashed out with her left leg, kicking
me in the bum. I have a big bruise."
A spokesman for Mills confirms the incident, but adds the former
model only reacted violently because she feared Levy was a reporter.
He says, "She was taking private notes from a lawyer when
a woman tried to take her picture.
"Heather suspected she was a journalist. She even admitted
she was trying to make some money out of her.
"Heather did kick her up the backside - all the staff and
customers started clapping."
Macca has ordered security staff to grab valuable artwork, antiques, heirlooms and personal items and hide them in a vault.
He acted after learning Heather, 38, had attempted to gain access to his houses in London's St John's Wood and Peasmarsh, Rye, East Sussex.
A pal said: "Paul thinks Heather is after the McCartney treasure chest. He has beaten her to it."
Earlier this week, Mills called police saying she had been locked out of the Sussex estate and that artwork had been stolen.
Sir Paul McCartney is planning to reunite with his late
Beatles bandmate John
Lennon and finish an unreleased
track the pair sang together.
The Fab Four abandoned "Now And Then" during their prime.
McCartney,
George Harrison and Ringo Starr tried to resurrect the track when they
put together their Beatles Anthology albums ten years ago, but
guitarist Harrison claimed it was not good enough.
But McCartney wants to go back and finish the job.
A source tells British newspaper the Daily Express, "It has
always niggled a bit with Paul that they didn't finish Now And
Then.
"While George wasn't keen, Paul always though the song had
a lot of potential. He is now hoping to complete it after all,
with him singing the harmonies to John's lead vocal. It would
obviously be very moving to hear the pair of them singing together
one last time." McCartney himself recently said of the song,
"It needed a bit of reworking but it had a beautiful verse."

Scientists warn about celebrity mumbo-jumbo
Musicians, actors and models should check their facts before using their status to promote alternative health theories and fad diets, scientists say.
Many people start the New Year with good intentions of exercise and healthy eating sometimes based on endorsements from public figures with poor understanding of the science behind their recommendations.
The charity Sense About Science
warns celebrities in a leaflet that they have a responsibility
to make sure they are not doing more harm than good by promoting
"quackery and mumbo-jumbo".

It names and shames figures including Elle MacPherson, Jamie Oliver, Chris de Burgh, Heather Mills McCartney, Joanna Lumley, Madonna, David Baddiel and Melinda Messenger as having made misleading declarations.
While much of what the famous
promote can be dismissed as harmless "fluff", some views
based on poor understanding of science can have serious and damaging
