McCARTNEY THRILLS BASEBALL FANS

Rocker Sir Paul McCartney stunned sports fans in New York on last night by
turning out to watch the city's baseball stars. The former Beatle
was in the crowd at the Bronx's Yankee Stadium to watch the New
York Yankees play fierce rivals the Boston Red Sox. McCartney
was greeted with a huge cheer and applause when the stadium announcer
revealed he was in attendance, and he duly took the time to sign
autographs. The singer is currently taking time out, staying at
his home in the Hamptons on New York's Long Island.

row behind home plate sitting with Lorne Michaels and Alec Baldwin.
He was laughing and drinking beer. Paul played air mandolin when
"Dance Tonight" was played over the PA. Macca was shown
on the jumbotron while "When I'm 64" was playing.)

Beach Boy Brian Wilson reveals Beatles jealousy
Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson has revealed that the success of his rival band, the Beatles, made him extremely jealous.
The 65-year-old singer confessed that he experienced severe pangs of jealousy during the heyday of both bands.
"They didn't scare me but they made me jealous. Because they got a lot of attention we didn't get, I was so jealous I could have cried," the Daily Express quoted Wilson, as saying.
Talking about former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney, Brian added that he's not the only one prone to weeping, for, according to him, Macca's response to his performance of his 2004 album Smile was equally emotional.
"He cried when he saw Smile," he said.
Brian further said that he and McCartney have both inspired and influenced each other.
"I'm working on a song called Beatleman. I've written it with Scott Bennett of my band and he has a high level of creativity. In a certain way, I'm addressing it to Paul," he said.
Don't mess with the Mac!
The News had exclusive pix yesterday of Sir Paul McCartney and Renee Zellweger at Tom Petty's Hamptons concert Saturday night. But the former Beatle had his bodyguards play the heavy with a member of the public who had the temerity to snap her own photo.
"He stood there while his security made her erase it," according to a shocked witness. The same fate befell a professional photographer.
Meanwhile, Macca was also spotted
chatting with a pretty blond named Stephanie at the Social at
Ross concert. "When he realized she was engaged, he went
back to his corner," laughs our spy.

Coming Up
by Bob Lefsetz
Too bad THIS
wasn't on the Starbucks album. If you want to know what it
was like seeing Paul
McCartney at Amoeba, buy THIS!
At the iTunes
Store. Could it be that after famously retiring from the road,
Paul McCartney is our greatest live act? Better than not only
Metallica and Al Green, but the STONES?
So I'm sitting here lamenting the death of my KLSX show, my hours having been sold for paid programming/an infomercial, reading "Rolling Stone", thinking that nothing matters anymore, and I see a review of a live McCartney EP. Who knew McCartney had a live EP?
And that was just my point. I was finally inspired to write. Doesn't matter that the Eagles have a new album, nor Springsteen. It's not a major event. There's some supposed song of the summer, entitled "Umbrella", by Rihanna, and I haven't heard it, and I don't GIVE A SH*T! Just like I didn't care about Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together" or ANYTHING by the bizarrely photographed Maroon 5 adorning the magazine's cover. But I HAD to hear a live version of "Coming Up"!
The original was a live take too. And it made it all the way to number one back when we'd counted McCartney out, after the brilliance of "Band On The Run" seemed to have evaporated, after we'd given up hope. Maybe our legends can throw the long ball one more time, but I didn't EXPECT IT THIS TIME!
Paul McCartney's in the midst of a heinous public divorce. He's got to get his mind off his troubles. He decides to release an album of tunes Nigel Godrich rejected. There's incredible publicity, Starbucks pulls out all the stops, but the record is lacking that essence that makes you TELL EVERYBODY YOU KNOW!
Same deal with the Eagles' "How Long". Oh, it's GOOD, but it doesn't make your head explode, it doesn't make you feel that it's SO F*CKING GREAT TO BE ALIVE!
And the new Springsteen track has great energy, but none of the charm of "Tunnel Of Love", never mind "Human Touch". But McCartney's live take of "Coming Up" has got that element that made you go crazy for the Beatles TO BEGIN WITH!
There's no chick backup singers. Just an incredibly tight band. The kind you tried to be after you bought your Fender and started to rehearse with your buddies in the garage. You grew your hair out, you listened to the records and picked out the notes, you wanted to be rich and famous, but you didn't have IT!
Paul McCartney has IT!
Oh, he's 65. He's less imposing physically than you might expect. But when he starts a pickin' and a grinnin', he's possessed, he's 23 once again. And so are you.
You can hear the crowd roar. McCartney exalts like Lennon from the Apple rooftop. And then the band starts to COOK! You can hear Liverpool, even Lonnie Donegan skiffle, in the track. Then, that guy who sang "Long Tall Sally", he's BACK! He's reaching out from the track to YOU! There's an energy here absent from ALL of the Top Forty. It makes you want to BE THERE!
Paul laying down the bass. Abe Laboriel, Jr. is pounding the skins. The guitars are wailing, and then, THEY START PLAYING FELICE'S FATHER'S SONG!
You might only be twenty years old. Your PARENTS might be too young to have experienced Beatlemania, to know why the whole world went music crazy, why the Beatles changed our lives. But, if you listen to THIS, you'll GET THE IDEA!
Zellweger, 38, spent some animated face time with Beatle Paul McCartney on Saturday jamming to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
As Zellweger smiled, laughed and hung on the 65-year-old musical icon's every word, our lensman spotted Brinkley casting what appeared to be less-than-delighted glimpses in their direction - and no wonder.
After all, it was just two weeks ago at a James Taylor concert in the same East Hampton venue that Brinkley, 53, sparked romance rumors when she and Sir Paul, who is estranged but not yet divorced from Heather Mills, cut a rug.
They were even seen slow-dancing to "How Sweet It Is to Be Loved by You."
A witness at Saturday night's Petty concert at the Hampton Social insisted that they're all just friends.
"I don't believe there's anything between them.
"He was sitting with Amy Poehler and her husband, and she [Renee] was with two friends and left 15 minutes after he did," said the source.
Still, McCartney is known to
have an eye for younger women - and blonds. And Zellweger and
Brinkley fit that bill to a T.

McCartney detroys controversial log cabin
Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney has bulldozed the $2 million (£1
million) cabin he built for estranged wife Heather Mills
on his English country estate.
McCartney built the two-bedroom supercabin five years ago because
Mills didn't like staying in the main house where his late wife
Linda had lived.
Local council bosses had ordered for the cabin to be torn down
because the star had not been given planning permission. He was
expected to fight the ruling, but friends reveal he decided to
destroy the building, in a bid to help him get over his split
from the former model.
Adidas is in the firing line for fuelling what campaigners have dubbed the "largest wildlife slaughter in the world", which sees millions of kangaroos killed each year in Australia for sport, or to be precise for the football boots that are made from their skins.
The timing of the attack could not be worse for Adidas or Ms McCartney, coming just ahead of the debut for her sports line at London Fashion Week next month. Adidas by Stella McCartney is being billed as the grand finale to six days of fashion shows from big names such as Paul Smith and Betty Jackson.
The row also threatens to embarrass other members of the McCartney family: Sir Paul has been a fierce critic in the past of Adidas's use of kangaroo skins.
Andrew Tyler, director of Animal Aid, said: "Adidas's use of kangaroo skin is inexcusably cruel. On the question of Stella McCartney's alleged silence, we know she opposes animal cruelty and presume she is taking the steps she feels appropriate to press the company to stop the use of kangaroo skins." Sir Paul has campaigned for Vegetarians International Voice for Animals (Viva!). "Please do all you can to help Viva! end this shameful massacre," he has said.
Viva! scored a major coup last month, which culminated in the Californian Supreme Court banning the sale of football boots and other products made from kangaroo leather. The ruling was a second major embarrassment for Adidas, coming after David Beckham hung up his kangaroo- skin Predator boots and demanded a synthetic pair.
But why was Sir Paul McCartney so tardy? The former Beatle, it transpired, had been busy tucking his three-year-old daughter, Beatrice, into bed - and judging by the smile on his face, nothing could have made him happier.
Indeed, according to fellow guests in the exclusive retreat on America's East Coast, the 65-year-old, accompanied to the event by his three older children, Mary, Stella and James, was positively glowing with the contentment of a devoted father.
As one old friend who has spent time with him at the resort over the course of three decades put it: "It was like having the old Paul back. The war with Heather is over and the relief is written all over his face. It's fantastic."
What a difference six months make. Towards the end of last year, Paul was at rock bottom - communicating with his estranged wife only through third parties and investing huge amounts of energy briefing against the "enemy camp".
Now, the Mail understands, the estranged couple rarely go two days without speaking on the phone and meet twice a week to 'hand over' Beatrice as part of their shared custody agreement.
Whisper it quietly, but well-placed sources have told the Mail they are getting on rather well these days.
So much so, in fact, that a startled Heather recently confided in a friend a growing conviction that her estranged husband is trying to win her back.
An extraordinary development, should it prove to be true (though given Heather's track record when it comes to veracity the news should be taken with a healthy pinch of salt). But there is, nevertheless, clear evidence that the hatchet has been buried.
So what has changed Paul's mind? The answer, quite simply, is Bea.
The strikingly pretty little girl is taking an increasingly central role in his life, her presence being the first and overriding consideration as far as his schedule is concerned.
He is, by all accounts, utterly bewitched by his daughter. And he sees a great deal of Heather emerging in her personality as she approaches her fourth birthday.
Friends say that viewing the same sparky qualities in their child has made Paul review his previously withering opinion of her mother.
"Paul and Heather are definitely much friendlier now," says an impeccably placed source. "They don't have long conversations about divorce settlements anymore. They leave that to the lawyers to sort out.
"The bond which has brought them back together is their little girl. In the heat of the moment, a lot of hurtful things were said and done, but one thing Paul can't ignore is that Heather's a fantastic mum and Bea completely adores her.
"That has changed Paul's thinking more than anything else."
The Mail understands that the turning point came during a handover at the start of the year, when Paul offered an olive branch by making an extraordinary apology for his behaviour.
"He changed very suddenly," says the source. "He went so far as to say that he would always love her, and how much he respected her strength and determination.
"Heather was blown away. So much so that she told me: 'I know it sounds incredible, but I think he wants me back.'"
A ludicrous suggestion, of course, but one that has sent Paul's 'people' (the polite way of describing hangerson, employees and yes-men) into paroxysms of terror.
"There are some worried people in Paul's camp just now," says a friend. "They've been through the 'ding dong the witch is dead' euphoria and failed to notice they were going too far. Now it has backfired because Paul has actually started to feel sorry for Heather.
"You can't help but be impressed with her self-belief and resolve, and Paul is starting to feel genuine remorse for the way he's treated her."
Meanwhile, Paul's older children have been making their own contribution to the reconciliation, encouraging him to "sort out the mess" for Bea's sake.
Over the past month, it is understood there have been long conversations at the McCartneys' £10 million ($20 million) estate in the Hamptons about "what Linda would have wanted" - and the answer is love, not war.
But the children's campaign goes back much further. In February, Paul met his eldest daughter Mary for a coffee in St John's Wood, North London, and she encouraged him to "do the right thing" by Heather and Bea, regardless of the cost.
"Mary has become something of a figurehead for the kids in the discussions, because she's probably the most level-headed of the lot," says a source close to the family.
"She told her dad in no uncertain terms that they were desperately worried about the effect a stressful legal battle could have on his health. More importantly, though, she just told him to think of his little girl."
Not that the children have found it easy to defend their stepmother.
"Make no mistake, the kids did absolutely despise Heather. For a long time they wouldn't even use her real name - they called her Mrs Rochester, after the destructive wife in Jane Eyre who ended up being sent to a lunatic asylum.
"But now they are sick and tired of having the family name dragged through the mud and they're determined the war must end."
The issue about which Paul feels most guilt is said to be the decision to stop paying for Heather's personal security after they separated, despite the threat to her safety actually increasing because of the intense media scrutiny.
Indeed, there were even those in Sir Paul's personal security team who were appalled by his conduct.
The Mail understands that two of his bodyguards left his service to work for Heather, but they had to move on because she didn't have the cash flow to pay them.
"Paul now realises he acted petulantly and foolishly, and that taking away the security put Bea at risk, too," says an old friend.
"He feels genuine remorse about it and has distanced himself from the people who stupidly advised him to take that course of action.
"He wasn't thinking straight at the time and was given bad advice. The situation has been addressed and things are different now."
While the final divorce settlement remains some months away, Heather is understood to be in line for a lump sum payment of £15 million, followed by £3.5 million ($7 million) a year until Bea turns 18.
Ultimately amounting to £70 million ($140 million), it will be comfortably the highest divorce settlement Britain has ever seen.
Heather, in turn, is compromising and stepping out of the public eye. Following her successful American TV appearance on Dancing With The Stars, her representatives say offers of television work have been pouring in at a rate of two or three a week, but all are knocked back.
She is, by all accounts, "keeping her head down" - another reason why Paul is said to have mellowed towards her.
"He definitely misses her," says one source. "Bear in mind that they had a real bond. She was such a big character, whether you liked her or not, and they had a very passionate sex life.
"When they split up, at first he was just furious, but after a few months he started to grieve for the relationship. It's a bit like a bereavement. Paul has always had a strong woman in his life, and right now he's missing that quite badly."
He has been dating since the separation, but does not feel ready to find a lasting companion. Earlier this year he went out with heiress Sabrina Guinness. But the Mail understands they have agreed they are happiest as 'warm friends' and neither sees a long-term future together.
He was also linked with former model Christie Brinkley after they were spotted dancing together at a party in the Hamptons, though members of his circle say she "simply isn't his type". Even Billy Joel, her ex-husband who introduced them, said they were nothing more than 'old friends'.
The woman he continues to have more contact with than any other remains Heather. And there are intriguing signs that she is making a continued effort to fit in with his image of an ideal woman.
Friends say Heather appears to be metamorphosing into Linda - Paul's adored wife of 30 years - with every passing day. She is planning a vegan cookbook, though that, too, has been put on the back burner for the time being.
And, not content with becoming the face of various vegetarian and animal rights campaigns, she is taking to the rural life, which was for so long a source of conflict.
During her marriage to Paul, Heather complained about his 'reclusive' nature and encouraged him to move to the livelier environs of Brighton with her. But since the separation, she has performed a volte-face.
She is selling her seaside home in Hove and has bought a £3 million ($6 million) farm in the Home Counties, close to Paul's Peasmarsh estate. Like her estranged husband, she is pursuing the policy of buying up vast tracts of surrounding land to ensure privacy.
The purchase, along with a £400,000 ($800,000) Slovenian hideaway, marks a change in her financial circumstances. Having complained ever since the divorce that she was broke, it seems the shackles are off.
It wouldn't be the Paul and Heather show without glitches, and there remain significant hurdles to overcome. Not least of which is Paul's insistence on a confidentiality clause in the divorce settlement. Heather is understood to be set against this.
"Heather regards herself as an inspirational woman and values her freedom of speech very highly," says a friend. "Women look up to her and would think less of her if she was gagged. She wants to be able to say what she wants, when she wants. It's posing a few problems with the settlement."
And while she accepts that Paul is making a significant gesture by offering her such a substantial sum, trust has not entirely returned.
She recently told a friend on holiday that, while Paul was showing signs of "doing the right thing", she fully expects her famously frugal husband to dither for as long as possible before opening his cheque book (which will give him until next June under the two-year rule covering divorce proceedings).
Indeed, such is his reputation for penny pinching that some waspish acquaintances are joking that he might take Heather back "just to save himself the odd £50 million".
So could the rumours of a reconciliation possibly be true?
Probably not - but stranger things have happened in the colourful life of Heather Mills McCartney.
And it's a fair bet that Stella,
Mary and James will be organising a few more family 'chats' in
the coming months just to make sure.

Gwyneth Paltrow's husband, Chris Martin, almost didn't get into Saturday's East Hampton screening of her movie "The Good Night." One security guard, who apparently isn't a Coldplay fan, manhandled the scruffy rocker when he tried to sneak by the waiting mob on the red carpet.
Among those who had less trouble
getting into the movie, directed by Gwyneth's brother, Jake, were Paul McCartney (who arrived late after tucking in daughter
Beatrice) and his grown children Stella, Mary and James; Billy Joel (who caught up with ex-wife
Christie Brinkley); Dina Merrill (who caught up with ex-husband
Cliff Robertson); David Geffen and Sandy Gallin (who came with

BEATLE FOR SAIL -PAUL STILL AT SEA OVER LOSING LOVE LINDA
It's the picture of love lost.
While other A-listers party in the Hamptons this August, legendary Beatle balladeer Paul McCartney spends most of his afternoons floating alone in a little sailboat boat that he christened Linda, which is named for his late first wife.
With a forlorn look, the aging singer pilots the modest craft in the Atlantic Ocean for hours, sometimes stopping to let the craft float while he sits back and reads.
When the self-proclaimed "sailing fanatic" is on dry land, he spends time locked away in his small waterside home, painting oil pictures, his other passion.
McCartney is now divorcing his wife, Heather Mills McCartney, but his mind still goes back to Linda, who died of breast cancer in 1998.
Her name is etched on the side of his little Sunfish dinghy.
Also, the $2 billion bachelor still can't part with the modest beach house he bought with Linda over 20 years ago in the working-class neighborhood of Amagansatt called the Springs.
For two weeks, McCartney, 65, has puttered alone in his understated Hamptons hideaway, occasionally lunching at the Maidstone club.
On Wednesday, he got some company, meeting Mills in an empty train-station parking lot in East Hampton to pick up the only other lady in his life, their 4-year-old (3-year-old) daughter Beatrice, nicknamed Bea.
The pigtailed tyke, dressed in a white sun dress, excitedly yelled "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!" from the backseat of Mills' white sports car when she saw McCartney waiting for her, dressed in a T-shirt and surf shorts.
A pastel-clad Mills - who spent the morning getting her hair and nails done at a salon - had a civil, two-minute reunion with McCartney before speeding off.
McCartney took his daughter out to lunch, and was spotted sailing with her on Linda, Friday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Mills is putting her $165 million divorce settlement to use by renting a lavish mansion in East Hampton, where she hosts parties when she's not out at dive bars playing pool with local men, leaving Bea in the care of a nanny.
One night last week, she didn't come home until 3 a.m. During the day, Mills has been seen dragging her daughter into boutique shops on Main Street and Newtown Lane. Bea has also been seen frolicking with her nanny on the beach.
Bea brings
Sir Paul and Heather together in an embrace
At least they were talking civilly. And without their teams of
lawyers present.
But the body language of both Paul McCartney and Heather Mills still showed a fair amount of awkwardness, hardly surprising after 18 months of bitter divorce wrangling.

The highly-estranged couple were meeting purely so that Heather could hand over their three-year-old daughter Beatrice to her father as part of their shared custody agreement.
While the adults kept a reserved distance from each other - in a meeting that lasted less than 90 seconds - the little girl had no inhibitions about showing her emotions.
As Bea spotted her father she squealed with delight: "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy."

Smiling Sir Paul, 64, picked up his daughter and gave her a loving cuddle.
But he tensed as she reached out to put an arm around her mother's neck, almost as if she was trying to pull her parents together again.
The exchange happened in the fashionable Hamptons enclave in New York, where Sir Paul has a £10million ($20 millon) waterside estate.
Heather, determined to look her best, had earlier taken Beatrice for some mother-daughter pampering at an upmarket beauty salon.

The 39-year-old chose to wear a brightly-coloured summer dress for the meeting with Sir Paul on the neutral territory of a railway station car park.
Former Oxford don Peter Collett, widely regarded as the UK's top body language expert, said: "What is most interesting is Heather's floppy hand gesture, a beautiful example of displaying submissiveness. She's showing him she has no ill intentions.
"She is clearly thinking the best way to handle him is to not be aggressive."
He also pointed out that there was virtually no eye contact between the couple, explaining: "It's a classic example of gaze avoidance which I suspect has something to do with an underlying feeling of embarrassment.

"A lot of water has flowed under the bridge - recriminations, accusations, bad tempers. There is a sense of shame here."
Dr Collett concluded: "This is a working relationship and has - I would say - been brought about by her softening of her relationship towards him."
The couple have thrashed out
a divorce deal which will see Sir Paul pay Heather £70 million
($140 million) over the years until Beatrice turns 18.

Macca and Mucca come together without fighting

These sensational exclusive pictures show Macca and Mucca CLOSER than they've ever been since their bitter split.
They met in New York for a handover of the daughter whose love is slowly melting the wall of ice between them in their multi-million-pound divorce war.
At one point three-year-old Beatrice had her arms round the necks of both mummy and daddy-as if willing them back together in a family hug.
And, for the bewildered little girl in pigtails clutching her dolly, there is hope that their fighting might be over and even some affection rekindled between the two, we can reveal.
For this rendezvous-as Paul picked Bea up from model wife Heather close to his Long Island home-was the SECOND TIME in a WEEK that the pair have met.
Aides say they secretly got together at the ex-Beatle's £10 million ($20 million) beachside home for a two-hour family lunch earlier this week.
One told us: "Paul and Heather did it for Beatrice. They both decided on longer holidays of two weeks each with their daughter and agreed at the meeting to stop talking about the divorce in front of her.
"Paul is worried it's the lawyers causing most of the ill feeling. He's asked Heather to ignore these battles when they meet.
"In recent weeks he's been more accommodating to Heather. The tensions and stress of a year ago have eased off and they spend time face to face."
Kiss
For their latest meeting on Thursday both drove separately to a railway station car park.
Beforehand tanned Heather, 39, spent nearly two hours at a beauty salon with Beatrice and arrived in a low-cut, revealing dress.
As the tot, clutching a toy Garfield, spotted her music legend father she squealed with delight: "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy."
Smiling Paul picked up his daughter and gave her a cuddle. He looked tense as Beatrice, reached out for Heather to pull her close for a kiss.
But the frostiness of previous handover meetings between 64-year-old Macca and Mucca had clearly thawed. At times they looked into each other's eyes as they chatted, with Heather fidgeting her hands around.
They said their goodbyes then Macca put Beatrice in his car.
Clinical psychologist Dr Kristina Downing-Orr-a top body language expert -believes the couple have made great strides since their acid meeting at Bea's third birthday last October where Heather was pictured scowling at Macca from a play park bridge.
And she sees clues that their relationship could be warming up again after closely studying our set of pictures. "Considering what's happened between them in the last year, their behaviour at this meeting is incredible," she said.
"They're both nervous but that's over-ridden by their love for Beatrice. And Paul looks very guarded, but I think that's because he still loves her and is trying to stop her seeing that."
Dr Downing-Orr said Macca was going "all-out" not to show any feelings. "Heather is nervous, but she is really placating her husband. She wants to be friendlier with him, which he's wary about," she said.
"If they didn't want to be there, they could have just done a quick 'here's the child, thank-you and goodbye' in just 10 seconds. They are talking, there is eye contact and they leave on a positive note. This a building block to a good future.
"I'm sure these pictures show they could still get back together."
Macca's daughter, fashion designer Stella, has flown to join her father as he looks after his daughter. They went out partying last weekend and attended a James Taylor concert. Paul chatted to Billy Joel's ex-wife Christie Brinkley.
Meanwhile Heather was seen playing pool in a New York bar with a male friend after spending the previous two weeks with Beatrice, taking her to Las Vegas.
In June we revealed how the warring couple were secretly planning to meet at Macca's US home after calling a truce in their divorce war in May when Paul agreed to support Heather and settle the divorce by early 2008.

As Macca sails a boat named Linda, Heather takes to pool
For Sir Paul
McCartney it was a blissful
reminder of the good old days - just him and Linda sailing
on a lake.
All
my troubles seem so far away: Sir Paul enjoys a peaceful afternoon
on a lake in the Hamptons
Linda being the name of his dinghy, after his beloved first wife who died in 1998.
The 65-year-old former Beatle cycled to the lake from his holiday home in the Hamptons, the fashionable U.S. East Coast enclave where affluent New Yorkers spend their summer.
He and his soon-to-be-ex-wife Heather met up there last week when she handed over their three-year-old daughter Beatrice, whose time is divided between her parents.
Heather grew to love the Hamptons while spending time there with McCartney, and is renting a house a few miles from his. She was seen in a local bar playing pool with a "hunky male" and enjoying the company late into the evening.
Sir Paul's divorce from Heather is expected to cost him £70 million ($140 million). And if he needs any advice about breaking up, who better to provide it than his old friend Christie Brinkley, the 53-year-old former model who has been married four times?
He was introduced to Miss Brinkley some years ago by her second husband, Billy Joel, who wrote his hit song Uptown Girl about her.
And they met again the other night at a concert in a Hamptons club by James Taylor.
Members of the crowd said Miss Brinkley, in a widebrimmed floppy hat, danced close to Sir Paul as the band played How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You.
During the song - which has the lyrics "I needed the shelter of someone's arms" - Christie sidled up to Sir Paul, and whispered in his ear, having to take the hat off to get in closer to him, then leant her head on his shoulder.
They had spent much of the earlier evening laughing and joking together.
And at the end of the gig, before the couple left separately, McCartney was described as "beaming" and "really buoyed up" as he did a little dance on his own in front of daughter Stella and her husband Alasdhair Willis.
Miss Brinkley recently split
from her fourth husband, architect Peter Cook, after he confessed
to an affair.

Paul McCartney's London Eye
Sir Paul McCartney wants the London Eye to be renamed after him.
The former Beatle is pushing to have the name of one of London's biggest tourist attractions changed to the McCartney Eye to promote the release of DVD 'The McCartney Years' in November (Webmasters Note: A 3-DVD set of videos and music spanning McCartney's career).
A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "The whole idea came together after a series of meetings. The artwork for the DVD cover is a close-up of Sir Paul's eye - and that got everyone thinking.
"We realised one of the other most famous eyes in the world was the London Eye and they immediately tried to work together."
As well as renaming the London Eye for a short period, it is also thought there are plans to beam the DVD artwork onto the 443 foot tall big wheel.
The source adds: "It's ambitious but his people are determined to make it happen and Sir Paul may even perform a one-off show in one of the pods to make it even more special.
"Paul loves London and
to be the face and name of the London Eye - albeit just for a
short time - would be a massive honour that he would cherish."

McCartney and Mills endure
'family bonding'
Warring exes Sir
Paul McCartney and Heather Mills are reportedly having a "family
bonding" holiday for the sake of their daughter.
Fans were stunned to see both Sir Paul and Heather in the Hamptons - the New York millionaires seaside resort - at the same time.
And now insiders insist the couple are there on a covert "family bonding" mission for the sake of their daughter, Beatrice, who is almost 4.
Despite having one of the most bitter divorce battles in recent showbiz history, Sir Paul and Heather insist they want to be amicable enough to work together for the best interests of Beatrice.
The Hamptons is ideal because it offers maximum privacy as it is populated by celebrities and millionaires who as a point of pride would leave the McCartneys well alone.
McCartney has had houses there for years, building an estate with maximum privacy.
And it was at the Hamptons where they met again last summer, although for less than an hour, in a bid to smooth relations.
But having them both there at the same time is proving a nightmare for hosts who cannot have them at the same event.
One promoter of an A-list venue said: "We were expecting Paul last weekend, although he didn't show.
"But we were specifically
keeping Heather off the guest list in case he came. There is no
way those two can be in the same place in public."

A Beatle's reunion
Warring exes Paul McCartney and Heather Mills are both in the Hamptons. But while they had the bitterest celebrity divorce proceedings in recent memory, some say they are on a covert "family bonding" mission for the sake of their daughter, Beatrice, who is almost 4.
Gatecrasher spies spotted Mills working out at an East Hampton gym Tuesday, and McCartney was seen at a gym in neighboring Amagansett on Monday. It is believed they arrived last week.
"It won't be a conventional family holiday - there's still tension," a source told a British newspaper when rumors of a reunion circulated last month.
The former couple are also believed to have met at Sir Paul's Hamptons home last summer, although for less than an hour, in a bid to smooth relations.

MAC 250 Entours
for Sir Paul at Electric Ballroom
Sir Paul McCartney is renowned
for many things, and along with his musical genius, he also tours
with one of the most spectacular and theatrical shows on the planet.
Packed stadiums around the world are treated to musical and visual
feasts that are as dynamic as they are huge.
So when he performed a small, secret show in London to launch
his new album- Memory Almost Full - he wanted a show with an intimate
feel, but not lacking the dramatic lighting his fans were accustomed
to. He turned to Paul Normandale for the lighting design, who
put together a show that was both visually engaging for the lucky
fans gathered at the Electric Ballroom in London, while also camera
friendly - as the show was broadcast to various American TV channels
that night.
Paul Normandale said: "We had very limited stage space and
power, so I had to come up with a practical plot to give the audience
a feeling of just turning up to a small pub or club show. This
was of course then filmed for American TV links which were mixed,
edited and despatched overnight. In this capacity the lights had
to be simple and easy to use, but with more than enough output
for the trim we were playing within."
A 20 foot rear pipe bore six MAC 250 Entours and seven static
tungsten spots, while six floor cans provided further colour wash.
"Since we had no access to the fixtures once the backline
had been assembled, it was important that everything held up,
and that's just what they did."
Paul Normandale is no stranger to the feature rich MAC 250s, and
their performance helped make a memorable show for all. For the
rest of us who were not able to squeeze into that fantastic night,

Winging solo
by Timothy Tilghman
Legendary musician Denny Laine appeared at Jammin' Java in Vienna, Virginia, on Sunday, July 29, 2007. The Cryers, a quartet from New Jersey, joined Laine on stage as his backing band. It's rare to catch Denny Laine in an intimate setting, and his performance was not to be missed.
Casually walking out on stage
after his introduction, Laine stated confidently, "We're
gonna do some of my Wings
songs", to a round of
enthusiastic applause. His set began with the strong rocker, "Time
To Hide", embellished by harmonica solos from Laine.
Laine prefaced the material, chatting about the origin of each
song. His insights into a stellar musical past, earthy humor and
engaging quips kept the audience in laughter. "No Words",
Laine's first co-authored composition with Paul McCartney,
showcased the dual guitars of Laine and Brown. Orlando sang the
bridge vocal at which Denny said, "Thank you Paul".
"Deliver Your Children", one of five McCartney-Laine
tunes recorded for London Town in 1978, highlighted Brown on acoustic
guitar. Laine went on to share a tale of being in Las Vegas meeting
Tom Jones. His moral was, "Don't take drugs, just drink yourself
to bleeding death". He added it was something he learned
during his tenure in Wings.
Turning back time, Laine sang a moving version of "Go Now", lifted by Liao's keyboards. This signature song from his days with the Moody Blues received immediate approval from the crowd. Laine scored a smash hit, singing lead on the single with the Moody Blues in 1965, before forming Wings with Paul and Linda McCartney in 1971.
Laine mentioned getting stuck in the mud while wearing wellies (rain boots) for a Back To The Egg video shoot before launching into his final Wings recording "Again And Again And Again". Laine, Brown and Orlando harmonized together on this, which really rocked the Vienna club.
Laine spoke of collaborating
with Paul on the lyrics for "Mull Of Kintyre" and that
Scottish comedian Billy Connelly voiced his dissatisfaction to
him. Reaching a major moment in concert, The Cryers rose to the
occasion supporting Laine on this 1977 masterpiece as he encouraged
the audience to sing along during the chorus.
The Cryers arrangement of "Live And Let Die" worked
exceedingly well live sans all of the pyrotechnic tricks that
Macca employs on stage to perform this song. Although more rock
than reggae, their bridge segue was brief before the band spiked
the volume once again. The dramatic power bursts were cool, which
preceded the extended climactic jam.
Reminiscing about recording in Nigeria during 1973, Laine remarked he was proud of the Band On The Run album. He sang the title song in another impressive arrangement from The Cryers. Liao's synth playing, Brown's bottle neck leads and Payne's drum solo had the fans animated in the audience. The ensuing crescendo jam left everybody clamoring for more.
Laine commented, "Thank you, see you later", as he exited the stage without returning for an encore. He was eager to greet all of the fans that remained after the performance to shake his hand and offer praise on the concert. Laine signed all of the musical memorabilia presented before him, with several fans hopping back in line for multiple autographs.
The Cryers opened for Laine,
mixing original songs with a collection of golden oldies. Bassist
Joe Orlando and guitarist Jeff Brown handle lead vocals. Keyboardist
Belle Liao and drummer Bob Payne are essential members, fueling
the sound of the group. The Cryers announced the release of their
new self-titled CD, featuring six original compositions.

MACCA TO SING WITH BEACH BOY'S BRIAN
They were famously locked in a massive musical rivalry 40 years ago but insiders say rock legends Brian Wilson and Sir Paul McCartney are set to join forces for a surprise performance during the Beach Boys star's forthcoming London gig.
Wilson, 65, whose group regularly battled The Beatles in the charts during the mid-Sixties, is planning to mark the 40th anniversary of the Fab Four's "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" by performing material from the historic album next month.
Concert insiders say Sir Paul is tipped to make the appearance at one of Wilson's six shows next month at the Royal Festival Hall.
"Paul and Brian are good mates and as Brian is going to be performing from Pepper, the word is Paul will join him on stage one night for a couple of songs," says a concert source.
"Paul has long been supportive and loyal towards Brian and it'll obviously be fantastic for fans to see them singing together."
Sir Paul has recently performed a couple of low-key gigs in London and New York. He is not expected to go on a full-blown world tour until his divorce from Heather Mills is resolved.
Our industry insider adds:
"Brian has long taken great pride that Paul has described

Paul McCartney Says The Real Reason That Bands Reunite Is Money
By Howie Edelson
Paul McCartney says the main reason for bands reuniting is money. McCartney spoke to Britain's The Word magazine, and when asked why he thinks older bands such as the Zombies have hit the road again, McCartney replied, "They've run out of money. Very simple... Nothing cosmic about that, love!"
He went on to explain that, "Crowded House... the Police. I think what's going on in truth is that if you can still stand each other then you have a chemistry as a band, which is actually a very precious thing... But why not reform? Y'know? Particularly if you like the thing that you're doing."
McCartney's latest album Memory Almost Full peaked on the charts last month at Number Three. Although he's performed four low-key concerts in the past month, he won't be hitting the road in support of the new album until after the new year.
Mobile music just got a lot more indie.
Wireless giant AT&T has inked a deal with digital download service eMusic, which sells music in MP3 format and sells music only from independent labels, to sell downloads over the air to cell phones. The deal allows most AT&T customers, except for those who use the Apple iPhone, to buy music straight from eMusic without connecting to a computer first.
The deal could be a boon for both parties, as AT&T customers will now have access to a vast catalog of music not typically included in other mobile music stores, like those from Verizon and Sprint. Nearly all of the 2.7 million tracks eMusic has the rights to sell, including the recently added "Memory Almost Full" from Paul McCartney, will be available through the service.
EMusic, the second-largest online music seller but a distant second to Apple's iTunes, will reach a much larger audience.
But the service's cost could be a hurdle. Tracks will cost more than they do on eMusic's site--$7.49 for five songs, as opposed to $9.99 for 30 at the online site, the companies said. Users will get a second copy of the song to download to a computer as part of the price.
If a subscriber wants to download
more than five songs in any given month, additional booster packs
of five songs are available for $7.49 each. But AT&T customers
will have to subscribe to the service in order to buy a booster
pack.
Stella McCartney is teaming up with iconic New Zealand lingerie company Bendon to create a designer range of underwear.
The deal, announced this morning, marks the beginning of a "long-term partnership" which will see the first collection of Stella McCartney lingerie released early next year.
In a statement released today, McCartney said she had always wanted to design knickers.
"This is a natural progression for me. Lingerie is an obsession of mine, I have been inspired by it for many, many years and ever since my degree collection at St Martins, I have always used it in my work."
The collection promises to be sexy and confident with an emphasis on modern designs.
The luxury range will be made from silk, organic cotton and georgette silk chiffon in the signature Stella McCartney palette of antique pink, cream, blue and pearl grey.
McCartney, daughter of former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney, was once the chief designer for Parisian fashion house Chloe and has collaborated with Gucci, Adidas, H&M and Target.
In 2003, the designer launched her own perfume and earlier this year she released the organic skincare range CARE.
