the same as a nibble?
![]() Illustration of Nigel as a Fox Terrier Peep by Gimlet Rose @ Nigel Enterprises Day Three of the official Peepdown, and the wait is down for the count. The people at Just Born., Inc., manufacturers of Peeps Cocoa Cats, have responded to my e-mail requesting production of Fox Terrier Peeps. Were they full of sweet talk? Let's see: To: Nigel Prescott Wire Fox Terrier Senior Editor, Mr. Doodles Dog From: Allyson Greer Dear Nigel, We certainly appreciate your suggestion for additional shapes of our PEEPS® candies. Our product development and marketing teams are always busy working on tasty new flavors for our candies; and we always enjoy hearing what our valued consumers want. Thank you for taking the time to contact us. Regards, Allyson Greer Just Born, Inc. Consumer Relations Department You're welcome, Ms. Greer. My guess is that if we fox terriers keep the polite pressure on, we can realize the Fox Terrier Peeps dream before too long. Once people get a taste of the Peeps Cocoa Cats, with that marriage of cocoa and marshmallow, the dog peeps will look that much better. Hmmm. How about toying trying for working our way into the popular culture? "Visions of Fox Terrier Peeps danced through their heads." Maybe now that the people at Just Born, Inc. have seen what a Fox Terrier Peep could look like, (above illustration) they will come running. Sweet surrender, perhaps? --Nigel Posted at 09:15 AM Tue - September 25, 2007Cocoa Cats got their tongue? Some like it hot, if Marilyn Monroe's
character Sugar Kane is to be believed.
Some of us like answers. And Fox Terrier Peeps! Zilch, nada, nothing, zero, nil, coming up empty,
that's all folks, etc. from the people at Just Born, Inc. on the worldwide
Peeps Cocoa Cats controversy.
We enter Day Two of the official Peepdown, the Peeps Cocoa Cats brouhaha that is raging among the world's canines. The fox terrier breed seeks parity: we want white, sugary, (no cocoa, please) Fox Terrier Peeps on the world's grocery shelves. We don't want to be known as seasonal confections, either. It's Peeps for everyday living, and Peeps every day. Thank you. Not a word from you, Just Born, Inc. folks. The words we want to hear are Fox. Terrier. Peeps! --Nigel Posted at 09:40 AM Mon - September 24, 2007For Peep's Sake!Nigel says he wasn't born yesterday. It's
time for Peeps parity, and he's not going to sugarcoat it.
Dear Just Born,
Inc.,
Nigel here. I'm the Senior Editor of Mr. Doodle's Dog . I'm looking about six weeks into the future, at my first Halloween as a spectral, celestial, other-worldly, creature. Think of me as The Canterville Dog . But what do I see? Peeps Cocoa Cats, manufactured by Just Born, Inc., are in my home. Yes. Your company based in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the place that brought us Peeps for over 50 years, are reshaping the world in sundry marshmallow images. I could understand it when you introduced the Pumpkin, Ghost and Bat Peeps. Halloween is becoming more and more of a dental nightmare, so why you sugary Peeps people miss out on a holiday? But Cocoa Cats? Cats? Even Joe the Cat was surprised by this Peepery. Joe never thought he'd live to see, in any of his various lives, a cat Peep cross his path. And, as Joe points out, it's not as though black cats are looking for any more notoriety around Halloween. Thanks, but no thanks, says Joe, for the gooey benediction. What about dogs? We have an entire year devoted to us in the Chinese Zodiac, and August has always been known as the Dog Days of Summer. We can handle another proclamation. We were just born for it. Did Just Born, Inc. realize any of this before you launched Peeps Cocoa Cats? Would a Fox Terrier Peep, (we're predominantly white), be that hard to pull off? Think of the Cocoa Cats: cocoa and marshmallow aren't the best marriage of tastes. You're not enrobing the little fellows in chocolate. We're not talking Mallomars or Whippets . Whippets! At least Dare threw us a bone with that name. You can't blame Canada all the time. Take a look at Sam, our wire fox terrier humor columnist and consumer dog toy reporter at Mr. Doodle's Dog.
Sam looks at a package of Just Born, Inc.'s Peep's Cocoa Cats and envisions himself as a fluffy bit of marshmallow goodness. In confectionary terms, a Fox Terrier Peep. A wire fox terrier, unless he's been recently groomed, is white, fluffy and sweet. The perfect inspiration and combination for a Peep. A fox terrier is a dog in Peep form. A poodle lacks our sweetness, our wonderful build and our innate charm. Poodle Peeps? Never. What Peeps People want is a Fox Terrier Peep. (I would strongly advise against the manufacture of any "Wire Peeps." You don't need a focus group to tell you that). I am asking the readers of Mr. Doodles Dog to write you, the customer relations folks at Just Born, Inc. and request your company begin production of Fox Terrier Peeps. If you want a model for your design, just have your Peeple get in touch with my Peeple. Respectfully submitted, Nigel Prescott Wire Fox Terrier Senior Editor, Mr. Doodles Dog http://www.mrdoodlesdog.com Posted at 12:01 AM |
