SAM FERRARO - 1999

One of the great sprinters ever to run at Park. Sam had times of 10.8 in the 100 meters, 22.1 in the 200, and 50.0 in the 400. Had we allowed him to he probably would have run a great 800 meters. After the 1999 season Sam asked me why I had never run him in that event. Probably an enormous mistake by his coach.

Sam had great desire on the track. We alaways have confidence that in whatever event we entered him in, Sam would never disappoint us and he never did. No sprinter ever worked harder than Sam. It is indeed rare that we are able to find a srinter who is so unselfish and is willing to run the range of events (55-800) that Sam was willing to run. Perhaps that is why he was so successful and so valuable to his team.

NICK DAVIS - 2000
Nick was a shining example, of the fact that you don’t have to come in to our program with great athletic skills to be one of the best high jumpers in the state. As a senior, Nick placed second in the high jump in the 2000 WIAA State meet with a Jump of 6’ 7” and eighth in the triple Jump with a jump of 43’ 8”. Earlier in the year he set a school record in the high jump with a leap of 6’ 7” and triple jumped 44’ 10”.
Nick was merely a good athlete as a freshman with OK jumping skills. His success can be attributed with hard work in the off season, paying attention to the details in his events, and having a great competitive attitude.

Nick accepted a track scholarship to The University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and as a freshman is their best high jumper. We wish him all of the luck in the world.

Patrick Hunter - 2001

When we talk of great sprinters, Patrick is in a class by himself. Not only is he the fastest in the history of Park High School Track and Field but he is the fastest in the history of Racine County and one of the three great sprinters to ever run in Wisconsin High School Track and Field. Michael Bennett and Floyd Heard where the other two. This is very rare company for Patrick to keep.
As of 2002, his time of 10.4 was the third fastest all time in the state of Wisconsin behind Bennett and Heard.

In his high school career Patrick was on a 4 x 100 relay that finished 2nd in the state meet with a school record setting 42.1. He was a State qualifier in the the 100m and 200m as a sophomore. As a Junior he was the individual state champion in the 100 and 200 meters and helped Park win its third state championship in four years. In his senior year Patrick set a school record indoors in the 55 Meters (6.33). This was also the 2nd fastest time in the nation. He also set school records of 10.4 (FAT)(ranked #10 in the nation) in the 100 meters and 20.9 in the 200 meters in his senior year. He was the odds on favorite to repeat as 100 and 200 champion in his senior year before he pulled a hamstring muscle in the 4 x 100 relay trials.

When Patrick ran you were impressed by his speed, but more impressive than his speed is the type of person Patrick is. You will be hard pressed to find a more sincere, honest and giving person than he is. Patrick accepted a full football scholarship to the University of Norther Iowa in 2001 where he will also run track.
