James Muehr
- 1995
As an eighth grader, James said that his goal
was to be a 400 meter runner on the Park Track Team. As a
Freshman , James tried very hard to meet this goal but as
he found out, was not fast enough to be a sprinter. His coaches
talked him into going out for cross country and the rest of
the story speaks for itself. James ended up being one of the
most exciting and successful distance runners that we have
ever had at Park. In his senior year, James was one of the
best runners in the state in the 800, 1600, and 3200 meter
events. If you truly want to be successful, don't limit yourself
to one area. James though he was a sprinter but when he found
out that he wasn't, tried another event and found a pot of
gold. There is an athletic pot of gold out there for everyone
if they are willing to work for it. James attended UW LaCrosse
and as a freshman, ran on their varsity cross country team.

Mark Mueller
-1996
Sectional qualifier in the 1600 meters
as a junior. As a senior, helped lead the cross country team
to a third place finish at the state meet. In track as a senior
was a sectional qualifier in the 3200 (defeating an all-state
performer in the process). Mark was a great team lead who
lead by example. He truly ÒearnedÓ all of his
athletic success with a great work ethic. Always gave 100%
effort.

Jeremy Burks - 1996
One of the most versatile distance runners to
ever compete at Park. As a junior, finished 5th at the state
meet in the 3200 meters setting a school record of 9:31 in
the process. Also made first team all-county in the 800, 1600,
3200, and 3200 relay. He was the first athlete to do this
since all-county teams have been compiled. As a senior, finished
12th at the state cross country meet narrowly missing all-state
honors. Ran a school record 15:13 at the Midwest Invitational.
In track, set a conference record in the 3200 meters of 9:39)
and qualified for the state meet in the 3200 meters despite
a lower leg injury. In both workouts and meets, Jeremy was
very mentally tough and a tremendous competitor!

Adrian McNeal
- 1997
One of the truly great triple jumpers in the
history of track and field at Park High School. He had a personal
best jump of 46' 9" during the 1997 season. Adrian placed
2nd in the triple jump at the 1997 State Meet and ran the
second leg of the school record setting (42.5) 400 meter relay,
which also placed second at the state meet. He was only out
for track for 2 years (junior and senior years) and learned
the proper technique in the triple jump very quickly. Very
few athletes have had his kind of success as quickly as he
did. Adrian was a very hard worker who was instrumental in
helping Park win the 1997 W.I.A.A. State Championship. He
was as dedicated an athlete as we have ever had at Park.
