ALEKS MILICEVIC - 2001

Two time runner-up at State in the 800m (2000 & 2001). State Champion 3200m relay (7:55.25) in 2001 with a split of 1:54.7. State qualifier in 3200m relay (1999) and 1600 relay (2000) with a split of 49.2. Helped lead team to 2000 State Team Championship. Two time individual qualifier for State in cross country (1999 & 2000). Third place finish at Sectionals in 2000 helped team qualify for State. Finished 9th at State Cross Country Meet in 2000, after finishing 65th as a junior, earning First-team All State honors and helping team finish 5th. Also ran 4:25 for 1600m and helped set school record and conference record in 6400m relay as a senior.

Aleks ran a 4:55 1600m, 2:07 800m, and 56.0 400m as a freshman and decided that he liked running enough to come out for cross country as a sophomore. From that point in his career, he improved to 4:44, 2:02 and 53 as a sophomore and became a dominant track and cross country athlete as a junior and senior. His second place finish in the 800m (1:55.56) in 2000 behind teammate Ben Gregory, not only clinched the State Team Championship for Park, but it was undoubtably one of the most "clutch performances" in the history of Park Track.

Team Captain in both cross country and track. Aleks graduated with a 4.47 GPA and will attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison on an academic scholarship. He is planning on majoring in medicine or engineering.

BEN GREGORY-2001

The best distance runner ever to wear a Park track uniform. Ben is the first athlete in school history to win State championships in three events. He is the school record holder in the 800m (1:54.66), 1600m (4:11.44), 3200m relay (7:55.25), and 6400m relay (18:22.1). State qualifier as a freshman 1998 (3200m relay). State finalist at 800m 1999 (7th), 2000 (1st,) and 2001 (3rd). Finished 2nd at State in the 1600m as a junior (4:15.77) and 1st as a senior (4:14.4). Anchored the 2001 State Champion 3200m relay to a school record (7:55.25). Helped lead Park to State Team Championship in 1998 and 2000 and did not lose a race his senior year until the 800m final at the State Meet. Also has the 2nd best 3200m (9:33.8) in school history.

After competing in soccer during his first three years at Park, Ben decided to try cross country as a senior and had an outstanding year. He won the prestigious Midwest Invitational and the SEC Conference Meet helping Park to win the teamtitle by one point. At Sectionals, he finished 2nd to the defending State champion and helped the team qualify for state. Finished 5th at State in a very strong field to become the first medalist from Park in 15 years leading the team to a 5th place finish. Set 5k PR at Foot Locker Midwest Regional at UW-Parkside in November 2001 (15:48)

Ben always seemed to run his best races in big meets. In spite of all of his success, he was a very humble and coachable athlete; the ultimate "team player". He capped off his senior year at the Adidas Outdoor National Championships by finishing 7th in the mile (4:13.06-PR, #6 all-time in Wisconsin), narrowly missing All-American honors. He will be attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison on a partial track scholarship.

TREMAIN CARTER - 2003

The comeback kid who defied the odds.Tremain tore ligaments in his right knee during 2002 football season, had surgery in October of 2002 and placed 5th in the 100 meters at the State Meet in June of 2003. How tough is that to do! Yes, if he hadn't been injured he would have placed higher but the amazing thing is that most athletes wouldn't even had made it to the State Meet. Most people would have hung it up for the year but Tremain was different. He was a fierce competitor.

He wasn't always that way though. As a freshman and sophomore he didn't want to follow any rules. We had a difficult time even getting him to tie his shoes correctly. He was even sent home from practice because he was a distraction.
He hung in there though. A team captain and team leader as a senior. ConferenceChampion in the 100 and 200 meters. In addition to placing 4th in 100 meters he anchored the 4 x 200 meter relay to a 5th place finish in the State Meet. He will live in the annals of Park Boys' Track as being one of thetoughest individuals ever to set foot on the track.
