The Pando Family

Introduction
These branches of the Pando family originally came from Spain. They first settled in Cuba and made their way to the United States in 1897 during the Spanish American Cuban War. Initially, they settled in Florida. But in the 1900's branches moved back and forth between Florida, Cuba, New York, and Ohio. Eventually the family also spread to California, Illinois and Oklahoma.

What we know in the 21st century comes from documents, photos and letters saved by our ancestors. In particular, Molly Pando (1903-1990) and Luisa Pando (1873-1956), preserved a great deal of family history. More recently Bonnie Naifeh Smith, Carol Lanigan and Ginny Pannier have been researching and compiling family information. We are grateful to the numerous Pando cousins that have contributed their time to complete questionaires, answer e-mails and send photographs to us. Thank you. Without your help this would not be possible.

This site will continue to grow as the project to add photographs and documents has only just begun.
