1. What's the deal with MillionPixelPoker.com?
This site is a tribute to Alex Tew, the future marketing genius who came up with the MillionDollarHomepage. We've taken this idea a bit further, offering US $100,000 to the largest advertiser (see details below).

The idea is simple: to try and make US$ 1,000,000 by selling 1 million pixels for US$ 1.00 each. The main motivation for doing this is to pay for my loans and bills.

2.Why so many Loans and Bills?
After racking up loans in college, I decided to go to medical school here in the US at the school with the highest tuition. Not my choice, but that's where I ended up. Four years of Med School left me with $210,000 in debt. When I finished my four year Emergency Medicine Residency, my interest had taken my debt to $250,000. I have monthly conversations with the Loan holders, Sallie Mae. My only goal in life is to find some way to tame this beast. I suppose I should've just called this 250,000PixelPoker.com, but that sounded goofy. I don't know if we'll make it to the million, but if we make it more than a quarter of the way there, Sallie Mae will be happy.

3. What's the Poker Angle? I love that poker. I started watching it on ESPN like everybody else, and have been reading as much as I can. I haven't lost or won money overall, but I'm still learning. I figured that I would try to market this site to all of the poker fanatics out there, and get Party Poker, Pokerroom and the rest advertising here.

4.Don't you feel like a ripoff stealing Alex's idea?
I guess so. The lucky part about it is that he himself endorses the practice. From his site, in response to the question whether he was upset at the ripoffs and imitations:

"Not at all. It is bound to happen (this is the internet afterall), and infact, I think it will work in my favour. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. So I think any copy-cat sites will only have pure comedy value, whereas mine possibly has a bit of comedy PLUS some actual pull in terms of advertising dollars (I will be able to afford swanky socks, they will only get to buy crappy ones probably! They could have my old ones, if they like). So I say good luck to the imitators!" - Alex Tew

Alex did want his imitators to come up with something new, so we are orienting our site toward poker traffic. Please note that all traffic/visitors/advertisers are welcome. In addition we're offering a US $100,000 prize to the largest advertiser (see details below).

6.Why can't I buy one single pixel?

7.Why should you buy my pixels?
Because they are cheap. For a one-time cost, you will have an image and a link to your site on the homepage of a site that could potentially be seen by millions of people over the coming years. The site will be online for at least 10 years (until at least October 14, 2015), that's guaranteed, but the idea is to keep it online forever.

Because it is in demand. There is no more above the fold space on Alex's Site. Check it out. Then come back and buy some space among the poker pixels.

Because it works. Alex's advertisers are getting 5000 hits a week. I know. I put an ad on his site and my stats lit up...

Because you can win US $100,000!!! We will cut a check for that amount to the advertiser who places the most largest ad (highest cost) as soon as the website reaches 50% occupancy. So when we have 500,000 pixels sold, the biggest advertiser will receive a $100,000 prize. This is designed to be a driver for more and more advertising -> more and more visitors -> etc... It will be nice if it drives the traffic in this manner, but even nicer for the winner of the $100,000. So...
