COUNTDOWN

This game is for all ages (not all variations) and is published by Cadaco

I bought this game at Target. It consists of a game board with 10 wooden "flippers" at each end of the board. Players roll two dice and add, subtract, multiply or divide the two numbers. They flip over a wooden key that corresponds to one of the answers. The first to flip over all 10 keys wins.

For the younger kids, they can flip over either of the numbers they rolled OR what they get when they add two of them to each other.

You can play this with just pencil, paper and 2 dice. Each player writes the numbers 1 to 10 on a piece of paper. Take turns rolling the two dice, and add, subtract, multiply or divide the two numbers. Instead of flipping, just cross off one of your numbers. The first to cross off all 10 wins.

The wooden flippers might make the game more fun for younger kids.

This is a WONDERFUL game to experiment with. My 12 year old and I tried a number variations that we made up. For example, we tried rolling three dice instead of two and requiring that all three be used to get an answer. And we tried rolling three dice and you could use the number on any one of the dice or the answer to any combination of 2 or 3 dice (adding, subtracting, multiplying, or dividing). We then made a new rule for that game - you had to get the answers IN ORDER - in other words you couldn't flip over the 2 until you'd flipped over the 1. BUT - once you'd flipped over the 1, if you also had a "2" on that same roll, you could flip that one too. And so on. So, if you rolled a 1, 3, 4 as your three dice, you could flip over the 1 because you rolled a 1, a "2" because '3-1=2", a 3 because you rolled a three and a four because you rolled a 4.

THIS is a fun game!!!

You should experiment with different rules - change a rule and see how the game plays out.
