Having extracted and cleaned several skull parts these were then species identified by analysing the root patterns of the teeth of the various palates. A video miscroscope displayed wall sized images and hand lens were provided for individual use. For example different species have M1 molars with either 4 roots for a wood mouse or 5 roots for (juv) rat. Common shrews have a reddish tinge to the dentine. Incisors grow forward from within the back of the skull and are incredibly strong. An example of the contents of a single barn owl pellet was shown, beautifully presented and framed.
