Having retired to the local village hall for the remainder of the evening the group gained a fascinating insight into small mammal populations - by dissecting owl pellets and studying the skull parts recovered and the distinguishing features of the teeth.

With the help of data sheets supplied a picture began to emerge of the small rodents populations from two different parts of the country.
