Page 3 -- Installing MySQL

This is the easy part for me...

Go to http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/mysql/ and follow the directions to install the MySQL database. Follow the directions closely! They will tell you what to do, what files to put where, and how to ensure that MySQL starts automatically when your computer starts.

This installation is based on MySQL 2.23.47, the latest build at the time of this writing.

Once you have completed the MySQL installation, download the MySQL JDBC driver so that we can talk to the database with UltraDev. It will comes as a JAR file (Java Archive) and will need to be decompressed. If you don't have it installed already, get Alladin's StuffIt Expander, which will handle this type of compressed file. There is a free Lite version of it available for MacOS X.

Installing the JDBC driver...
