Notes on the 1900 Census
  • The above census data was found by Dave Jordan.
  • An attempt has been made to reproduce all data exactly as it is on the original record; some wording changes have been made for clarity and further information on the meaning of column headings is on the census sheet.
  • Both Dwelling Number and Family Number are artificial numbers used by the census enumerator.
  • If wish to explore any of this data further, please contact Dave directly.
  • Franz would have been about 22 when he came to America about two years after his brother Michael.
  • Frank Pajewski and Augustine Abend were married 3 November 1888. Assuming a June 1900 Census, then they would have been married 11 years, not the 12 years as shown.
  • Although no occupation is shown for Frank Pajewski, the Chicago Directories list Frank as a carpenter before and after this time.
  • It is unknown if the two Bergs were just boarders or were extended family or close friends.
  • For the 1900 Census, it appears that the brother of Augustine Abend Pajewski, Matthew Abend, is at the same address as the half sister of Augustine's husband. See the Martin and Veronica Nicolai Census Record.

Notes on the 1910 Census
  • The above census data was found by Dave Jordan.
  • An attempt has been made to reproduce all data exactly as it is on the original record; some wording changes have been made for clarity and further information on the meaning of column headings is on the census sheet.
  • Both Dwelling Number and Family Number are artificial numbers used by the census enumerator.
  • If wish to explore any of this data further, please contact Dave directly.
  • The 1910 Census indicated the family name as "Pusky" which is most likely a phonetic spelling of Pajewski.
  • There are a number of discrepancies from the 1900 Census, these include the wife's name, Frank's and Augustine's ages, an added child, Thomas, years of immigration.
  • While there are a number of discrepancies, the street address matches that for the 1900 Census and for Chicago Directories from 1894 to 1914, the children names and age for Anna and Lena generally match, and the occupation, carpenter, matches the Directories.
  • On balance it is believed that this is our Frank and Augustine Pajewski.
