Family Chart Notes
  1. Clicking individual names under the Parent's/Children's column transfers to that individual's Family Chart.
  2. The identification of Joseph John Steward's father as John Isaac Steward was found on Joseph John Steward's 11 June 1848 Marriage Record. This record stated his father's full name as John Isaac Steward, shipwright. The process of how additional information was found for the rest of the family can be found in the story section called Connecting to John Issac Steward.
  3. See also Steward Census Records.
  4. Joseph John Steward's marriage registration identifies his father as John Isaac Steward.
  5. The 1841 Cenus identifies Joseph, John and Elizabeth as the children of John and Sarah Steward. While the 1851 Census indentifies John as the son of John and Sarah Steward. See John and Sarah Steward Family Census.
  6. The entry for the Unknown Steward Son derives from the 1851 Joseph and Elizabeth Steward Family Census entry for Jemmima Steward widow. Her husband was possibly a brother to Joseph Steward, or at least it would seems that way.
  1. The Docklands Ancestor Parish Register Transcriptions Index indicate John and Sara Steward as the parents of John Isaac, Mary Ann, and Elizabeth Steward. For these, John is indicated as a shipwright. Unfortunately, there was no baptismal index entry for Joseph John Steward even though several census state he was born in Poplar, Middlesex, England. It is possible he was not baptized or it was somewhere else or just not found in the index.
  2. The Parish Register Index also showed a John and Sarah Steward with a son William baptized 25 April 1824; however John was shown as a butcher. Then while looking at Stewarts, I also found a John and Sarah Stewart with a son John born 28 April 1828 and baptized 28 June 1828. The father was shown as a butcher. Given the occupation match and that John the shipwright and Sarah Steward had a son John born a few months later on 2 July 1828, it appears there is a Steward shipwright family and a Stewart or Steward butcher family. Ours is the Steward shipwright family. Hopefully the other is really Stewart to minimize future confusion.
