Maatje Dominé was born in Middelharnis on January 6, 1804. She later married Adrianus van der Kloot and their son Matthijs van der Kloot was born here on January 8, 1827.

Aart Tanis, his father Dirk Tanis and his father Cornelis Tanis were born in the nearby town of Ouddorp, which is on the same island.
