Notes on the 1870 Census
  • The above census data was found in a search by Cindy Filipek Johnson.
  • An attempt has been made to reproduce all data exactly as it is on the original record; some wording changes have been made for clarity and further information on the meaning of column headings is on the census sheet.
  • The above US Census was taken on May xx, 1870 for the Village of Montgomery, LeSuer County, Minnesota.
  • If wish to explore any of this data further, please contact Cindy directly.
  • The 1870 Census shows John (Jan) Filipek staying in the Shima household. Later he would marry their daughter, Francis Shima.
  • Cindy thinks that Jan was only 14 not 22 for the 1870 census based on Vladimir's birth certificate find. This is a huge discrepancy.

Notes on the 1895 Census
  • The above census data was found in a search by Cindy Filipek Johnson.
  • An attempt has been made to reproduce all data exactly as it is on the original record; some wording changes have been made for clarity and further information on the meaning of column headings is on the census sheet.
  • The above Minnesota Census was taken in May 1895 for the Village of Montgomery, LeSuer County, Minnsota.
  • If wish to explore any of this data further, please contact Cindy directly.
  • The spelling of Filipek for this record appears to have been phonetic by the census taker.
  • It is unclear who 70 year old Annie Fillepek is or how she is related. She would have been born in 1825. If she is in Jan's direct family, the age correlates with a possible spinster sister of his father Anton. Another mystery.

Notes on the 1900 Census
  • The above census data was found in a search by Cindy Filipek Johnson. The record was located through the use of the Soundex system.
  • An attempt has been made to reproduce all data exactly as it is on the original record; some wording changes have been made for clarity and further information on the meaning of column headings is on the census sheet.
  • Both Dwelling Number and Family Number are artificial numbers used by the census enumerator.
  • If wish to explore any of this data further, please contact Cindy directly.
  • The spelling of Filipek for this record appears to have been phonetic by the census taker.
  • Cindy also found a 1900 Census Record for the Finley Family which included, Joseph Philipeck, servant, born 1880, age 20. It is presumed that this person may be one of the sons of John Filipek that is shown in the 1895 Census with the John Filipek family, but is missing for the 1900 Census.
