Ash
Ash is the World Link which links the nine world of Norse mythology by its roots. The ash is strongly linked to Odin and the Norns (fates). The first man was created from the timber of an ash tree and bore its name.

Apple
The apple is the fruit of life. In heathenry apples represent both birth and immortality. Apples are sacred to Idunn, Holda and Frigga.

Bartsia Alpina (wild flower)
The bartisa is associated with Loki in Iceland.

Bay
Bay is an evergreen used in Yule decorations.

Betony
Betony is used in the Nine Herbs Charm.

Birch
One of the runes is named after the Birch tree. In modern Heathenry is it strongly linked to the goddesses.

Blackthorn
Blackthorn was the wood from which Odin's wand was made in the tale of his pursuit of the Princess Rind.

Bramble
The bramble or blackberry is strongly associated with the Anglo-Saxon rune Thorn.

Chamomile
Chamomile is used in the Nine Herbs Charm.

Chervil
Chervil is used in the Nine Herbs Charm

Crab Apple
Like apple above the crab apple is sacred to Idunn and Frigga. This is the native apple tree of the United Kingdom. It is used in the Nine Herbs Charm.

Elder
Elder is the tree of the Elder Mother spirit from the Hans Christian Anderson tale of the same name, she is commonly seen as a survival from ancient Heathen beleif.

Elm
Elm wood was used in the creation of the first woman who bore its name.

Fennel
Fennel is used in the Nine Herbs Charm

Flax
Flax is the source of linen cloth. Sacred to Freya, Holda and Frigga.

Hawthorn
The hawthorn, whitethorn or 'may' is special for many heathens because it comes into flower on May Day and is used in fertility ceremonies at this time. It is also a plant sacred to the elves and the fairy folk in Northern Europe. Thorn is the name of one of the Anglo-Saxon runes.

Hazel
Hazel is used to mark the boundaries of a Heathen sanctuary or frithstead.

Holly
Holly is gathered to celebrate Yule.

Houseleek
The houseleek is a succulent garden plant associated with Thor, it is considered magical due to its ability to survive in very dry conditions such as on house rooves. One of its old country names is Thorsbeard.

Lime
The lime is associated with dragons, hence its alternative name linden.

Mandrake
Mandrake is known as Frigg's herb in Iceland.

Mistletoe
The plant used by Loki to kill Balder. Mistletoe is gathered for Yule celebrations.

Mugwort
Mugwort is used in the Nine Herbs Charm where it is described as the oldest of herbs.

Nettle
Nettle is used in the Nine Herbs Charm. Nettle has defensive qualities and was once used to make cloth as an alternative to flax (linen) which links it to Frigg, Freya and Holda.

Plantain
Plantain is used in the Nine Herbs Charm

Oak
The oak tree is sacred to Thor. It also has links to Frey and Freya as their sacred animal the boar feeds on acorns. Its strong associations with ship building also link this tree to the sea deities.

Rose
The rose has modern associations with the goddess Freya.

Rosemary
Rosemary is an evergreen used in Yule decorations. It also has modern associations with the ancestors.

Rowan
The Rowan is sacred to Thor, also known by heathens as 'Thor's salvation'. It is a strongly protcetive plant in British folklore.

White Orchid
The whote orchid is associated with Frigga.

Yew
The yew is an alternative for the World Tree (see ash above). A name of one of the runes. It is also used as a Yule evergreen.

Yellow Rattle (wild flower) -
The yellow rattle is associated with Loki in Iceland.
