Category Image Vacation 2009, Day Six, Part Two

Last night, I snapped a shot fo the Tabernacle cross and forgot to post it, so here it is:IMG_0020.png

Pretty, isn't it? The Tabernacle has a long history that I might go into later.

After everything, really. I am showered and ready for bed, though I'm not off to bed for a couple of hours, yet.

Woke up to the sound of hammering. I think I mentioned that earlier. After lunch (homemade ham and cheese sandwich), I went to the beach at Aquinnah. I have some pictures, all of them audience appropriate. The beach in front of me:

So, Aquinnah. It's about as far from the cottage as you can get without hitting water and drowning your car. It take about 45 mi nutes to get there at various speeds between 20 and 45. Realize that the island is only 100 square miles, and the roads are small, anyway. Not a single three-lane road anywhere, and the two lane roads were built where the horse trails went, and they were never straight to begin with. I left the cottage about 1:30, got there about 2:15, waled the half-mile to the beachentrance, then walked another half mile on the beach to get to my spot. It's secluded. As you cansee, there were only two other people near me. I stayed there for two hours, turning myself every thirty minutes (timed with the iPhone- I love those apps!) to keep from burning. I left the beach at 5:00, walkin gback uphill to the car. Drove home. This is where things get interesting.

I had every intention of eating at home tonight. However, when I got to the circle, all the spaces were taken by whatever was happening in the Tabernacle. So, I checked my RESERVED parking space down in the parking lot. Nope, someone had taken it, too. So, I drove into town. All the spots on the street were taken. I was now having dinner in town somewhere close to wherever I parked. I ended up parking at Ocean Park and havin gdinner at the Park Corner Bistro. It has apparently changed hands since last year. the menu is completely different, though still pricey for what it is.

I had the fried dill pickle chips with kethcup:

...along with the BLT witsh Swiss slider sandwiches:

... with the best Mojito on the island:

I then went around the corner to Mad Martha's for a No-Fat Raspberry Yogurt and Sierra Mist Float. Very tasty! No pictures of that, though. The paper cups are not at all photogenic. I played a game of Galaga, just to make sure the thing in the Tabernacle was over, then went back to the car and drove it over here to the cottage. Sure enough, the thing in the Tabernacle was over. My guess is that it was high school graduation rehersal.

Tomorrow morning is dialysis from 7-12 noon, followed by lunch at the Black Dog in Vineyard Haven, followed by some nastiness with the appliance repair people over there. Afternoon... beach again? Maybe? It's supposed to rain, but I might be able to keep it away. We'll see. Tomorrow evening? No clue. Dinner here, most likely.

Mom is coming up Sat afternoon, so ParentQuest 2009 begins after dialysis on Saturday. Should be fun.
