Movie Review: Hitman
Based on a video game. So?
I did not see this movie in the theatre. I saw
the previews and said to myself, "Self, " I said, "this looks like a movie based
on a video game. I was
right.
So?
OK,
the acting will never win an Academy Award, but it won't be counted as the worst
acting ever captured on film. It doesn't beat
Shoot'Em
Up for number of bullets fired, though it has
more of a story. It's not Dr.
Who, but the story is well
written.
A group of men are trained as
assassins from the time they are recruited by The Organization. Orphans and
outcasts, disposable people. One of them, #47, is their best. And it is time for
him to die. So they set him up.
The
rest of the movie is him trying to redeem himself. It's pretty awesome, as cheap
movies go. to be honest, I am reminded of my reaction to Vin Diesel in
xXx
the first time I saw it in the theatres. I was expecting nothing out of it other
than a few good explosions. I walked away with a lot more! In fact, I wanted to
hit PLAY again almost immediately. I am resisting the urge right now. Also a
coincidence is the fact that Vin Diesel was the Executive Producer on this show.
Now I understand why all the assassins were
bald.
I'm not real fond of the obvious
identifying mark on the back of the assassins' heads... all a good policeman
would have to do is look for a bar code tattoo. But I'm willing to ignore that
due to storyline. It was well shaped, most of it taking place in modern day
Russia. I liked that when it was done
for The
Saint,
too.
The bottom line? All in all, I
give it 8 clips out of 10, with a 9th clip in reserve after I watch it again. I
really do like it!
Oh, and the hot
naked chick helps.
