Television Review: Knight Rider (2008)
KITT is back. Michael... is not.
Exactly.
So, the Knight Rider franchise has returned to
NBC, with KITT rebuilt into a Ford Mustang Cobra... a transforming Ford Mustang
Cobra... with nanomachinery... and a new
voice.
So, one of the top scientists
who was part of the original Knight Industries two Thousand team working for
Winston's Foundation has continued to work on his AI, and has reached a pinnacle
with the new KITT... Knight Industries Three Thousand. The new KITT has some
neat abilities, but the interior leaves much to be desired in the way of gadgets
and lights and cool stuff. It still drives itself, and does so very quickly.
KITT is still a smart aleck, but his voice is deeper, darker, and better
projected than the original's... and that bothers
me.
Story: Michael Knight's son is
recruited to help the daughter of the KITT designer who is working on the new
KITT. He turns out to be a butthead, and then turns into a nice
guy.
Thank god David Hasselhoff makes
an appearance in the last 10
minutes.
So, the final word: I'll give
it 6 Mustangs out of 10, with 2 in reserve for the end of the first episode...
we'll see what else happens next week.
