Read-Through
After a year of waiting...
Last Saturday, I heard my screenplay read for the
first time by a (nearly) full cast! Listening to the voices of nine different
people, hearing them chuckle at the jokes and watching them smile at the
surprises, it all suddenly made a lot of
sense!
There was a hushed rush of
breath when I pulled out 12 copies of the script- all 86 pages of it,
spiral-bound and plastic-covered, and laid them out on the table. I booked The
Wine Cellar at Luigi's Downtown. It was perfect! We sat down at a long table,
half on one side, half on the other. I read the character briefs, then explained
the NDA, got signatures, and then we jumped into the reading. Talent consisted
of friends I've known forever, and others I've just met, with a wide age range
represented, 15-50. I had teachers, students, accountants, engineers... it was a
pretty eclectic cross-section of Macon
society.
And we read my script!
And it was amazing! I mean, yes, my
script was amazing, but it was so great to hear it
read!
So, the next step is to set up
the production company and get the pre-production work started. The concept is
simple- move Hollywood to the southeast and call it Atlantawood... or something.
And we'll produce the best independent films ever! Or, something like
that.
We are looking for
investors.
