Spring Break, Day Four
Late Flights and Alibis
OMDG!
And
I thought ParentQuest was bad!
Woke up
at 5:15, left Will's house at 5:45, made it to Tampa Airport by 6:45, turned in
rental car. Got my ticket. Got to the gate. At which point, all things
changed.
The FAA grounded all American
Airlines flights for maintenance checks. So I had to get rerouted through Fort
Lauderdale, then to Montego Bay. OK, no
problem.
But then there was the matter
of my checked luggage. Was it actually checked through, or would Ihave to go get
it and come back through the ticket line again? They took care of
it.
Got to the gate, finally, and took
a Beechcraft prop plane to Fort Lauderdale. Then stood in line for three hours
while the flight I was supposed to get on waited for me and about half its
contingent passengers as the line grew and grew and only two people manned the
stations.
Finally got to the island,
mon. And the bus driver forget to bring me to my hotel, so he and I had a good
conversation, just the two of us, as he backtracked to get me here. And then I
went and left all my documentation, my passport, and my vouchers in the bus.
The front gate was called, he was turned around, and I found them
all.
Whew.
Dinner
was fast, but tasty. I will take more time with my meals, but they were
closing.
Reggae band was good. Got to
danc ewith one of the hotel staff in charge of making sure everyone has a good
time.
Had several
drinks.
Am now going to pass
out.
Since I have no internet access
here, this is going to be posted in the past tense. I'll see if I can run
something up for $18.00 an hour in the sports bar and gift shop. Other wise, you
will al ljust have to wait.
Bath and
sleep time.
