Weekend
Because it bears mentioning.
Lots of rain Thu. That afternoon, I stopped to fill
up the gas tank. Did so. Added octane booster. Got in . Turned the key. Nothing.
Had electrics in the car. Gauges worked. Everything inside was fine. Turn the
key? Nothing. Called my auto
service.
"Can I have your contact
number in case we get disconnected?" I gave it to her. "Let me pull up your
information..." <click>
I waited
for her to call back. She never did. The car started, though, so I assumed some
water had gotten onto a wire that it shouldn't have and shorted across, but was
now fine.
Fri morning, on my way to
work. "On my way" actually means "walking to the car," since the car did not
start, again. Took three or four attempts. Got to school. Narrowed the problem
down to bad battery, bad cable, bad starter, bad ignition switch.
Fri afternoon. Car wouldn't start...
took several attempts. Got home. Had Halloween build. Had to get people home.
Car wouldn't start. Took several tries. Evil Apprentice followed me as I got
people home. Got people home. Dropped my car off at the car place while I still
had Evil Apprentice to get me home. Came back home. Spent time with the Evil
Apprentice. Watched new (and really bad) movie. Volunteered my understanding to
my principal should I need to be moved to a new cluster, or new school. Went to
sleep.
Sat morning. Car place called at
7:45 to inform me that it was a bad battery and that they could get that
replaced, and the serpentine belt, and an oil change in less than an hour!
Awesome! I called them back at 8:30. They said come get the car. I said,
"Awesome!" They called me back three minutes later asking me to give them more
time, because the starter really was bad. So, Cindy picked me up and I went to
get the rental car I had reserved last
night.
Sat afternoon. My car is fixed,
I get it home. I still have the rental, though, because they closed at Noon on
Sat. So, car: new battery, new serpentine belt, new oil, new
starter.
John came into town. It is
always good to see John. Went out to the college, met his taggers. One of them
lives in WR, but commutes down to Dublin twice a week or so to assist their
marching band program. Met two of his students. One of them knows Mrs. Kennedy,
with whom I taught for several years. So, told him to say
hello.
It is now Sun. Nothing on the
tube. Just chatting online. Which is usually far more rewarding than
television!
I hope you had a great
weekend! My mom;s birthday is tomorrow. I need to order some
flowers.
