Series Review: Remington Steele, Season One on DVD

My god, I am so lost in the Eighties!

It's not that I forgot how much I enjoyed the series when it first aired, because I loved it! But I forgot why I enjoyed it. Now, thanks to the magic of DVD, I can watch any episode of Season One at any time in fabulous digital quality!

Although slim on special features, the series (four double-sided disks) does offer interviews with creators and producers and cast members. It is odd to watch an episode and then see an interview with a decidedly more mature, Bondish Brosnan, though, as I watch the series, I realize exactly why he makes a great Bond.

Nor is Stephanie Zimbalist left out of the equation, though her presence is decidedly absent in the interviews. As Laura Holt, she brought a feminine feminism to the show, definitely strong and decisive, sure of her vision of how Steele should behave, but totally captivated by the mystery man who has become Steele.

In the long run, $30 is just a little over $1.00 an episode (all 22 episodes of Season One). An absolute must have for anyone growing up with NBC Tuesday nights (The A-Team at 8:00, followed by the detective lunacy of Riptide, and capped off with an hour of Remington Steele). I hope you enjoy!
