Movie Review: Sky High

X-Men, without the glitz. Except for the villain. The villain is cool.

Having super parents takes on a whole new meaning when they are the greatest superheroes on the planet. That is the situation with Will Stronghold who attends Sky High high school for Supers... without super powers.

Of course, there is a villain trying to take his revenge on Will's parents. And the love interest. And the snotty high school cliques. But, the members of these cliques are all supers. The cheerleading squad, for instance, is one girl who can clone herself.

The story is classic coming of age. The situations are funny. But the supporting cast makes this movie great! David Foley as the teacher for the sidekicks, or hero support personnel, reminiscent of his role in The Tick! Live Action Series when he was the superhero intervention counselor. Kevin McDonald, another former kid from Kids in the Hall, recreates his role as an alien commander from several Kids episodes.

Other supporting cast members, like Bruce Campbell and Lynda Carter, round out a bright cast of unknowns (or, at least, unknown to me). The girls are pretty, the guys are perfect, even the outcasts.

The final word? Wait for this to come on the Disney Channel (shouldn't take too long) and catch it there, but definitely catch it: 3 Kapows out of 5.
