Steve La Rocque – Technology Consultant
Stephen La Rocque began his association with the Open School in 1990 when his oldest son, Matthew, entered the school as a first grader. Matthew graduated from UC Berkeley in 2006 and has spent the past fifteen months working on the Obama campaign. Steve's youngest son, Dylan, graduated from the Open School last spring and is now attending New West Charter School.
Mr. La Rocque's introduction to computer technology came by way of his father and brother, both programmers, and his sister who worked for ten years at Apple Computer. His passion for digital technology grew out of his twenty year career working as a writer/director of feature films and documentaries.
For the past thirteen years, Steve has worked with five teachers on the Open School Tech Team to provide technology training and technical support to the students, faculty and staff at the school. As Technology Consultant, Steve oversees all purchases, installations and maintenance required to keep the school's technology up and running, as well as the training required to ensure that teachers and students are comfortable making use of the tools they have.
Steve also designed many of the custom software applications and multimedia presentations used at the school, as well as the view-through computer desks that house most of the school's classroom computers.
