Learning your Basics is the "key foundation" for executing good technique, and will help you become a good martial artist. General Registration Information
After-school enrichment classes at the Open School are coordinated by parent volunteers for our children to enjoy. We invite you to look at the Fall schedule & to put in your registration as soon as possible. Class enrollment is limited and is on a firstcome, first-served basis! Unless otherwise indicated, all classes will meet in the event of inclement weather (alternate indoor activities will be provided). You may also wish to provide a snack & sunscreen for your child and remind your child to turn up for class.
Limited scholarships based on financial need are available. Please inquire with Ms Leigh Woods, the assistant principal, if interested.
Please note that it is your child’s responsibility to remember to turn up for any class enrolled and each student is required to adhere to the school’s rules on behavior. Students who do not conduct themselves properly may be asked to leave the class and may not be allowed to participate in any after-school classes. Please also read the Open After-School Checklist for Students which is also online. No refunds will be made for any classes missed for any reason or forfeited due to improper conduct.
NOTE: Open After School is coordinated by parent volunteers and is not a Friends of the Open School or a LAUSD Beyond the Bell program. Friends assists with processing payments to several of the enrichment specialists who teach at The Open School during the day so your children can benefit from their expertise even after school hours. The Open After School enrichment classes do not raise funds for Friends, nor does Friends subsidize the program. Funds raised by Friends through your pledge contributions and participation in other fundraisers are used to provide curricular enrichment only during school hours.
