Calling all card players!
You love Open School and you want to participate in the fundraisers, but Bake Sales, Gift Wrap and Auctions just aren’t your thing. Do we have the event for you! It’s the fourth annual Open Charter School TEXAS HOLD ‘EM TOURNAMENT! Invented by a dad, for the dads (but not exclusively – women ARE welcome, just ask last year's grand prize winner). This authentic, no-limit poker tournament with professional dealers is the real deal. The winner of the final table will win a seat at a World Series of Poker event in Las Vegas. Once again this year, all players will receive a gift bag, courtesy of Full Tilt Poker, with a hat, a t-shirt, a mouse pad, a nice deck of cards, and more.
If it sounds like fun, but you’re not really sure what Texas Hold ‘em is all about… Not to worry. New this year, we’ve added a class for beginners 30 minutes prior to the tournament to teach the fundamentals of the game. Beginners will have the option of playing with the big fish OR at a beginners’ table where they can compete for smaller prizes, but will not be eligible to advance to the final table to win the Grand Prize.
You’ll want to invite all your friends, because that’s what the game is all about, right? Open School or not – everyone is welcome. The bigger the field of players, the more our children benefit. So spread the word.
It is a $100 donation to play, with an optional $20 dealer’s bonus. Make checks out to “Friends of the Open School.”
