Multicultural Celebration Day is coming! On Multicultural Celebration Day, our school community will share and celebrate the many cultures and diversity of families represented here at Open School. Parents and grandparents will spend the day sharing customs, stories, crafts, and games that reflect their family traditions. In the last few years, parents have taught students to braid hair, make Mardi Gras masks, play the Korean drum, dance the hora and many other wonderful activities. Families have also contributed wonderful traditional foods for delicious multicultural feasts.
This year on Multicultural Day, students in all clusters are encouraged to dress in a way that reflects their cultural heritage or another culture’s heritage if they choose. Families are encouraged to come in and share food, stories and/or other creative ways to celebrate their cultural traditions. Each cluster will celebrate in its own way. Notices from the participating clusters will be sent home soon. If you have questions, please contact your child’s teacher. You can also contact Carmen Spiva (Blue Cluster parent) at (323) 291-0401 or spiva@ca.rr.com.
Thanks and we hope to see everyone participating in this wonderful day!
