In this episode, Opaque plays part 1 of the recordings
from Avebury stone circle, where he was for the
Solstice celebrations. These recordings were done on 19
and 20 June 2009. The first people he chats to include
Avebury regulars Liz and Max, as well as Kieran who you
may remember from the Beltane podcast. After that,
Merlin from Arthur Pendragon’s warband, explains in
detail about the nature of solstice. This is then
crossfaded into the next morning where a man called
Ben, who is part of David Icke’s entourage contributes
some interesting stuff, and shortly after, David Icke
himself appears!
As the podcast draws to a close, Opaque reads an email
from listener Jan Langford, before pointing out that on
next week’s second part of the Solstice special, a man
called Matthew Watkins, who mathematically pointed out
the flaws in Terence McKenna’s Timewave Zero, makes a
guest appearance, probably to the disapproval of many a
listener, but Opaque points out that he likes to air as
many different perspectives as possible.
Music by Peter Murphy.

In this
episode, a somewhat not with it Opaquelens fumbles
and bungles his way through in a way only he can.
Although he doesn’t read it, he thanks Carlita for
sending an email from Guatemala, and so long and
detailed is this email that Opaque considers
dedicating an episode to reading it. He also thanks
Ben who appeared on last weeks podcast for the plug
on his blog.
After that it’s into part two of the Solstice location
recordings. This includes an impromtu song, a lady
rapping about Jimmy Saville on acid, Opaque himself
doing an impression of Jimmy Saville as well, another
meeting with Merlin, and a man called Matthew Watkins
who speaks about a mathematical flaw in Terence
McKenna’s Timewave Zero.
After that, Opaque talks about ideas for future
podcasts.
Music by The Damned.

33: Return of Aeolus as Jason Horsley Part 1

In this
episode,
Opaque
starts by reading some of Carlita’s email before
playing part 1 of the interview with Jason, and
because of the length of the emails, Opaque has
decided to read excerpts of Carlita’s emails a
regular thing on this show.
When the talk with Jason commences, the first topic is
cancer, as he currently has a relative who is diagnosed
terminal. During this talk, Jason philosophises about
what route causes of cancer could be, whether it is
unsolved emotional baggage, diet or the radioactive
soup we all find ourselves living in. Another theory he
puts up is the possibility that certain cells in the
body are becoming egotistical, and don’t care if they
kill the host.
Opaque then tells Jason about the recent media circus
surrounding reality TV star Jade Goody’s death by
cancer, pointing out what a media circus it had become.
Jason points out that the human ego/identity does
everything it can to hold on and even thinks ‘What’s in
it for me?’ about the self dying. He stresses that we
have become addicted to our identities, and maybe the
way is to surrender even that.
After playing the chat with Jason, Opaque reads more of
Carlita’s email, before talking about a shamanic talk
he went to by a person who is an orthodox Inca trained
shamanic healer, and uses this a base to talk about how
we as a Western culture should approach this subject -
should we plagiarise another culture’s shamanism or
should we find our own?
Music by Pink Floyd.

In this
episode, Opaque starts by
thanking Carlita for the video message, and reads
out a poem he received from her.
After that it goes to the concluding part of the chat
with Jason, in which Jason kind of becomes Opaque's
shrink! This part of the conversation focuses more on
surrender, loss of identity, and the midlife crisis.
In the aftermath of that interview, Opaque promises to
bring closure on any monotonous repetitive topics that
may have come up during the conversation with Jason. He
then decides to do some 'positive meme seeding' by
suggesting that we should set up our own religions, and
plan to 'go to church', which will result in gatherings
but because they're church services it can be argued
that they are not raves!
This is followed by an email from regular listener
Coolbreeze, after which Opaque mentions that he is
going to see Dale Pendell at the October Gallery, and
does another swine flu update due to getting a text
from a fried with the virus, who confirms from the
horses mouth that it is not as bad as the media says it
is.
Music by The Chemical Brothers.

35: Dale Pendell at the October Gallery Part 1

In this
episode, Opaque plays part
1 of the lecture by Dale Pendell, and no shownotes
could do this talk justice, except to keep it simple
by saying the theme is fire - hot, cold, wet and dry
fire. He reads out a few pieces of his own poetry,
and excerpts of stories he is writing, and even
though a lot of it may seem incomprehensible to the
untrained ear, there is something Blakean about it
that captures the imagination.
Before the talk, Opaque mentions that Max Freakout was
at the talk, and this lead to a chat between Opaque,
Max and mutual friend Calen in a sort of ‘Trialoguing’,
which will feature on a future episode. Also, BBC
documentary maker Bruce Parry was at the talk, and
Opaque could not resist getting him to record a jingle.
Listen out for that during the segway leading to the
talk! This is followed by reading a few emails.
Music by Blur.

In this
episode, Opaque plays the
concluding part of the Dale Pendell talk at the
October Gallery in Holborn, London. Before the talk
continues, he starts by elaborating on what the
Church of Illuminised Anarchism will do. This
includes a rant about politics and why politicians
are redundant. After that he talks about a few ideas
for future podcasting.
Part 2 of the talk starts with a question and answer
session, and Opaque is fortunate enough to get the
first question in. Topics covered include, apocalypse
and post apocalypse, whether or not anarchism can keep
its meaning over time at events like Burning Man, or
whether control freakery can undermine it. This leads
to the concept of the ‘Temporary Autonomous Zone’ being
looked at, whether it be Burning Man, Glastonbury or
the rave scene in Britain in the early 1990’s, and the
polarization between autonomy and authority. The
subject goes onto psychedelics, with Max Freakout (who
is in the audience) asking Dale about how entheogens
fit into raising conciousness. The talk ends on a poem.
After that Opaque reads another message from Zaka, and
an email from Carlita.
Music by East Forest

37: Trialogue between Opaquelens, Max Freakout and
Calen

In this
episode, Opaque points
out that there will be a week off the podcast next
week, but all being well, there should be a few Neil
Kramer specials when it returns.
Then it’s over to the ‘Trialogue’, recorded immediately
after the Dale Pendell talk, where it starts with
Opaque interviewing Max Freakout, and then mutual
friend Calen joins the chat. Opaque points out that he
and Max could not be enemies because if it was not for
Psychonautica, Shamanic Freedom Radio would not be.
Max talks about a recent ayahuasca experience in
Tuscany where he had the chance to interview Christian
Rätsch. Also he attended a seminar with Stanislav Grof,
and after a long break from podcasting, these
opportunities gave him the means to restart
psychonautica again. The topics and tangents between
Opaque, Max and Calen could not be summed up in
shownotes without them being too long winded, but it
hopefully should bring closure to any negative rumours
and speculations in the aftermath of Opaque’s banning
from the Grow Report forums.

38: Neil Kramer in Avebury Part 1

In this
episode, Opaque returns
after a week off the podcast with a new condenser
mic, and a few new recording devices to improve the
standard of the podcast in the future. This was
inspired by the fact that Opaque forgot to bring his
discs, and if it wasn’t for Neil Kramer being
prepared, this interview wouldn’t have been
captured. In the aftermath, Opaque decided it was
important to replace his obsolete antiques!
Opaque thanks the mystery person who passed an envelope
to a woman, who then passed it to Neil Kramer, who then
passed it to him, in a ‘message in a bottle’ style!
During part 1 of the chat with Neil Kramer, which is
conducted in front of a stone on the Avebury Avenue,
many topics are discussed, starting with crop circles
which are discussed in amazing depth. This leads onto
global warming, and the 26,000 year cycle which means a
lot of the symptoms of global warming may be cosmic
radiation. Neil then points out that the stones of
Avebury contain quartz and magnetite content, and that
would make them like computers, or even ‘file servers’.
When entheogens are covered, Neil points out that
plants taken in their native habitat may resonate with
the area and the taker, and if you were to take
ayahuasca in Peru, or liberty caps in England that you
would be getting a truer entheogenic experience.
Finally, field uplink is covered by request from
Opaque.
After the talk, Opaque mentions, amongst other things
that next week, Neil will be interviewing Anna (Mrs
Lens!) about physics from inside West Kennet
Longbarrow.
Music by Yes.

In this
episode, Mr Lens starts
by announcing his busking legal victory of the week,
talks about plans for a ‘roamcast’ by doing audio
blogs in Regents Park, as well as plans to go to the
climate camp which descended upon Blackheath this
week.
Then it’s part 2 of Neil Kramer in Avebury, presented
from West Kennet Long Barrow. It start with Anna
answering Neil’s questions about physics and quantum
mechanics. Opaque, naturally, sticks his tuppence worth
in, and the conversation drifts towards things like
sound engineering, shamans, reshamanisation and the
future of shamanism.
After that, Mr Lens reads an email from Sharon, and has
a further debate with Anna about quantum related stuff.

In this episode, Mr Lens
takes his microphone to London’s Regents Park on
three different occasions and talks about a range of
topics with the sounds of nature in the background.
The first talk is about David Shayler the ex MI5 spy
who declared himself ‘the messiah’, and how he
appears to have taken a wrong turning on the way to
an awakening. The second talk is about cultural
stereotyping in society, and how hard it is to break
free from cultural obligations that keep people
bound. Finally he talks about an experience with
Mimosa Hostilis and Syrian Rue, and how they helped
him reach a ‘breakthrough’.
In the aftermath, back in the studio, Opaque urges his
listeners to give some feedback in the form of emails
to the show.
Music by Jefferson Airplane, Ozric Tentacles and the
Chemical Brothers featuring Richard
Ashcroft.
