The OToScan: performed on the 5th of September 2007 at the Sonic Arts Research Center, Belfast (Northern Ireland) a Videosonic Performance Instrument Misusing a medical ultrasound scanner, the OToScan derives audio controls and synthesis from the imaged human material, for a literally "intra-bodied" electroacoustic expression... In the piece called "Flesh and I", based on self-exploration and the feedback loop of the physical subject with its image, the performance of the OToScan investigates the ambiguity between a musical gesture executed vs. the medium employed, by designing and merging both. Looking for the notion of physicality and gesture in electroacoustic expression, the system is inventing a new instrumental "causality".
