WSOP ManiaPlayed in the $500 NLH Casino Employee
event.
Event had 662 entries in which I ended up getting
busted with about 16 tables to go. The WSOP is a site to see. The venue is
huge! So much going on in one room. Satellites, 3 tournaments running at the
same time, live games. If you haven't been to the WSOP then you are missing
out. The first few events are shattering records for total entries. The $1500
NLH event alone had over 2300
players!
I think it's great we are seeing record number fields in the WSOP. My only gripe is how the payouts are. For example in the $1500 NLH event, there were 2305 players. In order to reach a 5 figure payout you need to finish 36th or outlast more than 2260 players. Compare to the Palms who's running NLH events twice a day through the middle of July. At the Palms you only have to outlast about 150 players to reach a 5 figure payout. Granted the buy-in is only $200 and the structures of the Palms event and WSOP are different and you need to finish at least top 3 at the Palms to get the 5 figure payout. My point is you should be rewarded for outlasting so many players. Last year the $1500 NLH event first prize was $300k. This year with almost 3 times the players the first prize is $725k or about 22% of the prize pool. I can understand paying 200 places for this event but I think if I were playing and were to outlast over 2300 players I should see a $1 million first prize. I'd prefer a more top heavy payout versus what they are doing now. Just my two cents. Posted: Wed - June 8, 2005 at 11:56 AM |
