Introduction

The SHELL is an international conference on English historical linguistics held biennially and intended to serve the same role in Asia that the ICEHL and SEHL play in Europe and the United States, respectively. It started out as a virtual conference held twice a year in 1996 and the first offline meeting was held at Chiba University, Japan in 2005. The SHELL 2007 is the second offline conference which will be held at Nagoya University, Japan.
