The only Mac OS X Leopard book you need.

In my opinion this is a five star book that tells you what you want to know about using your Mac.

It is well organized for the purpose. For example, Chapter 4 is Finding Things On Your Mac. Within this chapter there are four topics: Looking for Things in All the Right Places, Searching Your Mac with Spotlight, Searching Your Mac with Smart Folders, and Mac OS X to the Max: Keeping Your Mac Organized.

The book reads as though the author was talking to you in person about how to use your Mac. The instructions are pleasantly interrupted by the author’s notes and tips. A description about creating and using burn folders contains this tip.

You can use burn folders as a backup mechanism. For example, suppose you want to back up your iPhoto Library on a DVD. Simply create a burn folder and place your Pictures folder in it. To create a fresh backup of your library, just burn the folder. (You don’t need to move files into it again because the aliases are updated automatically.

I looked up questions I had in the detailed table of contents and the excellent index and experienced no difficulty in finding the answers.

In addition to the many chapters on using Mac OS X Leopard and the applications that came with it, there is a fine chapter on Solving Mac Problems. It does tell you what to do when you experience some common problems, such as when a program hangs. But, more important, it provides instructions on how to describe your problem, on understanding the causes of problems, on preventing problems, and on how to approach solving problems that are most useful whether you solve the problem yourself or you seek help.

PearsonUGbanner336a" Using Mac OS X Leopard, Special Edition" probably does come as close to the only Mac OS X Leopard book you need as any, and it is pleasant to read.
