Ron Lay-Sleeper wanted to review "Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac: The Missing Manual" because Adobe has finally released a new version of Photoshop Elements.

It is evident from "Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac: The Missing Manual" that Adobe has made many improvements in Photoshop Elements. It is a lot more powerful than iPhoto. It has the Photoshop tools that most digital photographers who are not professionals or very advanced amateurs would ever need. And, with this book, they will find Photoshop Elements 6 much easier to learn than Photoshop CS3 and at much less cost.

He found that Photoshop Elements 6 is a really great book. It is very comprehensive. It is well organized and has an excellent index to help you find what you need. It is the missing manual people need to get the most out of Photoshop Elements 6.

He said the only thing he found wrong with the book is that the little black screen shots in the book are difficult to see and read under the lighting he has in his house

However, Ron also learned that Photoshop Elements 6 requires the Macintosh OS X 10.4 operating system or higher. He has only Mac OS X 10.3, His computer cannot be upgraded to the current Mac operating system. He was not able to write a complete review without actually trying out the material in the book..

I was exploring resizing images for viewing on a monitor, so I looked it up in Photoshop Elements 6: The Missing Manual. It has an excellent discussion with illustrations of using pixel size on different monitors and on using Image > Resize > Pixel size in Photoshop Elements 6. You use pixels rather than inches when designing for viewing on monitors because an inch on the screen contains a different number of pixels depending upon the monitor and upon settings made by the user.

"Photoshop Elements 6: The Missing Manua"l contains instructions for sending photos by email as attachments or in PhotoMail which includes the image within the HTML email.

There was an illustration of the conversion of three photos to JPEGs at one time in Photoshop Elements 6. It included useful detail. Using a maximum photo size setting of Small(640 x 480) and a Quality setting of 9-high gives an estimated size of 225 KB for a 78 second download at modem with a speed of 56 bps.

I found the kind of information that I look for in a manual and am accustomed to seeing in the Missing Manual series.

If you have Photoshop Elements 6 you will want this book.
